Arsenal hold talks with Valencia for Mustafi: Agent jets in to discuss transfer fee

ARSENAL have opened talks with Valencia for defender Shkodran Mustafi, according to reports.

Mertesacker has been ruled out for at least four months after damaging his knee during the pre-season game against Lens last week.

Sky Sports Germany claim the Gunners have now entered into talks with Valencia for Mustafi but are yet to make a formal bid.

His agent Ali Bulut is expected to fly to Spain over the weekend to discuss the transfer fee with Valencia.

The 24-year-old is said to have a £42million release clause but Valencia are reportedly willing to allow him to leave for just £25m plus a further £8m in add-ons.

Wenger admitted last week that he needs to sign another centre-back, despite bringing in Rob Holding for £2m from Bolton.
