Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: This international star can improve us

ARSENAL manager Arsene Wenger believes Granit Xhaka will quickly adapt to the rigours of the Premier League.

Granit Xhaka Highlights: New Arsenal signing in action

Xhaka is one of only two Arsenal signings so far in what has been a difficult summer over in north London.

The Gunners were snubbed by Leicester's Jamie Vardy and have also missed out on Gonzalo Higuain, who signed for Juventus in a stunning £75million deal.

Wenger tied up a deal for Xhaka before Euro 2016 and has tipped the Switzerland international to be a big hit in English football.

He looks to be a very motivated and focused player, with good leadership qualities as well. The quality of his passing is excellent and he will help us improve on a technical level

Arsene Wenger on Granit Xhaka

“We welcomed Granit Xhaka to the club after the Euros and he’s done extremely well from the start,” Wenger said.

“He looks to be a very motivated and focused player, with good leadership qualities as well. The quality of his passing is excellent and he will help us improve on a technical level.

“He hasn’t played in the Premier League yet but I’m confident he will adapt very quickly because he is a very keen player who wants to work and wants to become a top-level player.

Granit Xhaka has been tipped to light up the Premier League

"His attitude is spot on, and when the attitude is good, the player’s adaption is very fast."

Xhaka arrives with the hope that he can bring a physicality to the Arsenal squad that has been lacking in previous years.

Wenger has tried many options over the past decade - such as Francis Coquelin, Mathieu Flamini and Alex Song - but is yet to find an heir to Patrick Vieira.

Vieira left Arsenal back in 2005 and the club have won just two major trophies in the 11 years since.
