Jose Mourinho: I would love to stay at Manchester United past my three-year deal

Jose Mourinho took charge of Manchester United in the summer amid a flurry of expectation.

The former Chelsea boss talked up winning the Premier League in his first season in charge at Old Trafford.

However, 12 games in and United are struggling in sixth place - nine points behind league leaders Chelsea.

But Mourinho thinks he can turn things around during his three-year tenure and he has already admitted he would 'love' to extend his deal.

"The three years contract I was given is a fair period of time to be where we don’t want to be," Mourinho said.

"Three years is not just about the transfer windows, it’s about my relations with the players and my understandings…

"My personality as a manager, it’s stability, it’s all about that, it’s a fair period of time.

“But if you ask if I’m waiting for my third year to have good results, no. I’m going to immediately try in my first season to get results.

"Let’s go step-by-step. I’m in the beginning of my contract.

"I’m in the beginning of the process, so let’s go step-by-step. 

"Would I like to stay here for more time than the three years? Yes, I would. I would love it.”
