Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: My message to players after yesterday’s results

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has admitted he was surprised by yesterday's Premier League results.

Arsenal's best moments of the season 2016/17 so far

Arsenal face off against Burnley aiming to capitalise on their rivals' slip-ups.

Liverpool lost against Swansea in the early kick-off, losing 3-2 despite rallying from two goals down.

Manchester United then drew against Stoke - relying on a late Wayne Rooney free-kick to salvage a draw.

Manchester City and Tottenham then cancelled out each other in a 2-2 draw at the Etihad.

And Wenger has urged his team to focus on today's task after their rivals suffered setbacks.

"I am always interested in what happens in the Premier League, of course," he said.

"There were some results that were surprising but at the end of the day you don’t win football games by looking at what happens elsewhere.

"You can’t focus on the way you want to play and try and impose the games.

"Every Premier League team is a different task to beat and we want to do that today."

Wenger also revealed the advice he gave to his team ahead of this afternoon's clash.

"We reminded the players of how difficult it was over there. How well Burnley is doing," Wenger added.

"They are a top-10 team and last season we dropped points against teams between fifth and 12th.

"That was not very convenient for us. This year we want to beat these teams and Burnley are one of those."
