Arsene Wenger: Alexis Sanchez will not be sold by Arsenal...we will stick to this decision

ARSENE WENGER has again expressed his confidence that Alexis Sanchez will be staying at Arsenal.

Football expert says Alexis Sanchez head has been turned

Sanchez scored 30 goals for Arsenal last season as the Gunners finished the season fifth in the Premier League table.

However, his impressive performances mean the European elite are circling.

Manchester City appear to be in pole position to sign the Chile international, with Pep Guardiola keen on a reunion.

But Wenger says the star will not be on the move.

"The decision has been made and we will stick to that. The decision is not to sell," he said.

Sanchez was quoted as saying last week he wanted to leave Arsenal so he can win the Champions League.

However, Wenger insists it was not what his No7 meant.

“I don’t give too much importance to things that are translated, you know,” said Wenger. “The whole interview that I got didn’t really mean that.

“The main focus for us is to concentrate on the Premier League and the Premier League for me today is more important than the Champions League.

“We rested sometimes players in the Group stages of the Champions League for the Premier League so that’s become the biggest importance for us.

“For the rest… we played 20 years in the Champions League, that’s 17 years before Sanchez arrived and three years with him so he can get us back in there.”

Arsenal have seen several first-team stars leave for domestic rivals in recent years.

Robin van Persie infamously moved to Manchester United in 2012 while the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy have all swapped the Emirates for the Etihad Stadium.

Consequently, Arsenal fans fear their hero could become the latest player to make the move.
