Arsenal Transfer News: Wenger plotting Carvalho or Seri swoop PLUS Lemar, two will leave

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger wants to bring in a 'destructive midfielder' as well as Thomas Lemar this summer, according to reports.

William Carvalho shows off brilliant play against Monaco

The Gunners have already made two signings with Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette arriving at the Emirates.

But Wenger isn't stopping there with Monaco star Lemar top of his wishlist.

Monaco are adamant the France international won't be sold this summer but Arsenal are confident they can prise him away from the Ligue 1 champions with a £50million offer.

But according to Football.London, Wenger is also on the lookout for another midfield addition with Nice's Jean-Michael Seri and Sporting Lisbon star William Carvalho on his radar.

Arsenal are confident of landing Monaco star Thomas Lemar

Seri has a release clause of £36m and has previously found himself linked with a move to Spurs and Roma.

But both clubs are willing to meet Nice's demands and neither will Arsenal - but the north London outfit believe they could snatch him at a lower price later on in the transfer window.

Swansea are also interested and today had a £15m bid for the 26-year-old rejected.

Carvalho also takes Wenger's fancy but will come at a similar cost to Seri.

A source told Football.London: "He's big, strong a technically competent, more a quiet destroyer than a creator.

Arsene Wenger is keen to bring William Carvalho to Arsenal

"William is a good player and person but if he wants to be an Arsenal star he needs to find top gear. Arsenal are looking because they understand they need some physicality in the middle."

Reports in Portugal suggest Carvalho would be keen on a move to Arsenal but Sporting won't sell him on the cheap.

And with Wenger looking to land Lemar and one of Seri or Carvalho, two players are expected to leave.

The report suggests Jack Wilshere and Mohamed Elneny will be the ones set to make way.
