Arsenal transfer news: Thomas Lemar is a top target for Arsene Wenger

L’Equipe say a £44.7m offer has been made by the Gunners as they try to lure him to the Emirates.

Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev said earlier this week that Arsene Wenger is wasting his time pursuing the 21-year-old winger.

He said: "We have kept all of the key players that we intended to keep.

"And I will address speculation relating to Lemar - he is staying with us. He is an immense talent and is essential for the team."

Lemar bagged 14 goals and provided 17 assists across all competitions last season.

He also helped Monaco reach the Champions League semi-finals.

The French giants are adamant the carve up of their talented team is over after being raided by the Premier League giants this summer.

Bernardo Silva and Benjamin Mendy joined Manchester City, while midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko went to Chelsea.

Fabinho has been tipped to continue the exodus with Manchester United keen but Vasukyev said: "Fabinho stays. He is an essential player in the midfield."

Their hardline stance could be bad news for Real Madrid, who were confident of landing Kylian Mbappe in a world record £161m deal.

Monaco plan on offering the 18-year-old striker a new deal.

Vasukyev added: "We're discussing a contract renewal with him. I hope we'll get there."
