MANCHESTER UNITED can sign Leander Dendoncker this summer if they stump up £22.3million.

Manchester United are desperate to add to their midfield, with Ivan Perisic and Nemanja Matic their top targets.

But manager Jose Mourinho is struggling to secure either player.

Dendoncker has been earmarked as a viable alternative target for the Red Devils, who sent scouts to watch him play for Anderlecht against Antwerp last night.

And Anderlecht's sporting director Herman van Holsbeeck has conceded his side cannot fend off serious offers.

He told Belgian newspaper Het Belang van Limburg: “We want to cherish him, but if a club is willing to pay between €25m (£22.3m) and €35m (£31.3m), we have a problem.”

Dendoncker played 90 minutes in Anderlecht’s league opener at Antwerp last night - a goalless draw.

The 22-year-old was a major player in their Europa League campaign last term and made 52 appearances for the club, scoring six times.

United have already spent over £100m on two new players this summer and Mourinho has said he wants at least one further recruit before the start of the season.

Reports in Turkey today claim Marouane Fellaini could be on his way to Galatasaray.
