The talented midfielder has been the subject of interest from Arsenal in recent weeks with Arsene Wenger prepared to break the bank to bring him to north London.

The Gunners are thought to have already had an offer of £50million rejected.

Monaco are determined to keep hold of Lemar, having already sold midfielders Tiemoue Bakayoko and Bernardo Silva this summer.

But Arsenal are determined to prise him away from France and Lemar is keen on a move to north London.

However, French publication Le10 Sport claim the Gunners will be battling Liverpool for his signature.

They say the Reds are making plans in case Philippe Coutinho leaves for Barcelona and Lemar coming in as his replacement is a possibility.

Liverpool are yet to make contact with the French side or Lemar's representatives but he has been discussed as a potential target.

Barca’s pursuit of Coutinho may be linked to whether Neymar quits the Nou Camp for Paris Saint-Germain.

But Liverpool would appear ready to make an approach for Lemar if they end up selling 25-year-old Coutinho to the Catalan giants.

Lemar, who scored 12 goals in all competitions last season, remains under contract with Monaco until 2020.
