Chelsea selling Nemanja Matic to Manchester United is a risk - Mark Bosnich

CHELSEA selling Nemanja Matic to Manchester United could come back to haunt them.

Mourinho insists Matic "wants" Manchester United move

That's according to former Premier League goalkeeper Mark Bosnich.

Nemanja Matic's arrival at United could be completed today after the Serbian underwent a medical yesterday.

The midfielder played a crucial part in Chelsea's title-winning campaign last term but his time in west London has come to an end.

Antonio Conte has already snapped up Tiemoue Bakayoko to fill his boots in the middle of the park but selling Matic to their Premier League rivals is a risk, claims Bosnich.

The bottom line remains if the player does want to leave, if he wants to reunite with Jose Mourinho, there’s no use keeping a player in the dressing room that is unhappy.

"I wouldn’t say it’s crazy but it’s a risk and we have seen that,” the Australian told talkSPORT.

“It can go all the way back to Eric Cantona being sold by Leeds to Manchester United, which completely swung them around way back when the Premier League started.

“I always think the club that’s selling has the inside track in terms of fitness and things like that.

“The bottom line remains if the player does want to leave, if he wants to reunite with Jose Mourinho, there’s no use keeping a player in the dressing room that is unhappy.

“You get the best possible price for him and wish him all the best.

“He was outstanding in his time at Chelsea and, obviously, Chelsea will have a replacement in mind to bring in.”

The 28-year-old has been with Chelsea since joining from Benfica in 2014.

Matic leaves the Blues with two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup to his name.
