It is said the Argentina international wished his South American counterpart well for the future, after the duo struck up a close bond at the Nou Camp.
And Neymar supposedly thanked Messi for the role he has played in his career so far.
Manchester United are not pushing to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid
Manchester United are prioritising a move for Ivan Perisic over Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.
That's according to Don Balon, who say Jose Mourinho is not prioritising a move for the Wales international.
It is said he feels he can strike a deal for Perisic for a fee of around £42million.
United have so far struggled to sign the Croatia international but Mourinho wants him to be his fourth summer signing.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has hinted at a move for Chelsea's Diego Costa.
However, any transfer will have to wait until January with the La Liga side currently banned from signing players.
"We talk about the players who are here and how the team has been working to keep all the players here," he said.
"All the players want to stay, they want to achieve even better goals and get even better. Diego Costa? If he comes in January… We can’t say anything about that yet."
