Jose Mourinho speaks out on Neymar

23.30: Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho reckons Neymar's imminent move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain is 'not expensive.'

Express Sport understands a deal will cost a huge £198million - making him the most expensive player in football history.

Manchester United were previously linked with a move for the Brazil international, with reports even suggesting they had an agreement in place last summer.

And Mourinho, who sanctioned that move, reckons the deal taking Neymar to France is a snip.

"When we paid that amount for Paul I told that he was not expensive," Mourinho said.

"Expensive are the ones that get into a certain level without a certain quality.

Perisic deal over

22.45: Manchester United have reportedly given up on trying to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, according to Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio.

"Perisic could stay," Di Marzio said on his official website.

"Manchester United has dropped off from the radar and have not made another attempt."

Mourinho wants more

22.00: Jose Mourinho wants more signings but has had his spending curtailed by the Glazers, according to the Independent.

The report says the United boss wants to add a striker and two full-backs to his ranks but is finding it difficult.

United have already spent around £140m and brought in Nemanja Matic this week from Chelsea for £40m.

A deal for Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic is also proving difficult to get over the line.

Neymar's Old Trafford snub

19.00: Neymar reportedly came close to joining Manchester United last summer.

A source told Sky Sports News: “Since he decided to leave, Neymar has had to deal with huge pressure to stay at Barcelona.

"His teammates wanted him to stay but his decision was made.

The source added Neymar had been “close” to joining United last summer but chose PSG after a further season at Barcelona.

Chelsea scupper Perisic deal

18.00: Manchester United could miss out on Ivan Perisic if Chelsea prise Antonio Candreva away from Inter Milan.

Italian broadcaster Mediaset claim Inter will only part with one of their wingers and they are more willing to sell Candreva.

The 30-year-old is a top target for Antonio Conte who wants support in the wide areas for his 3-4-3 formation.

The Clamped United…

17:10: That's a shame.

There's been picture of Manchester United's team bus being clamped ahead of their pre-season clash at the Aviva Stadium tonight.

The Red Devils are scheduled to play Sampdoria, and it looked like they would have some difficulty getting there.

However, it appears the gentleman in the picture is only holding the clamp over the wheel for a funny photo.

He's certainly succeeded in his mission!

Aurier no-go

14:25: Manchester United are NOT interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain star Serge Aurier.

Reports claimed United had agreed a £27m fee for the Ivory Coast international despite his ban on entering the UK.

Aurier was found guilty of assaulting a police officer outside a Paris nightclub in September last year.

And Sky Sports say United do not want to sign Aurier.

Big things expected at Man Utd

13:15: Manchester United’s three big signings - in both senses of the word - have ensured Jose Mourinho has scaled new heights.

They are all comfortably over six feet tall, with Nemanja Matic standing at 6ft 4in, Romelu Lukaku 6ft 3in and Victor Lindelof 6ft 2in.

Their arrivals take the average height of United's players to around 6ft 1in - meaning they now have the second-tallest squad in the Premier League.
