Robbie Savage gives Premier League predictions: Man Utd champions, Arsenal to finish fifth

ROBBIE SAVAGE has given his verdict on who will triumph in the Premier League this season - and it's not good news for Arsenal.

Chelsea players celebrate Premier League title win

Last season Chelsea ran away with the title as they beat Tottenham to the trophy during Antonio Conte's first year in charge.

Meanwhile, Arsenal finished a disappointing fifth and will be without Champions League football for the first time in Arsene Wenger's tenure.

So what will change this year and who has former Premier League midfielder-turned-pundit Savage backed to emerge victorious come May?

"Having tipped Manchester United to win the Premier League last season, I’m not going to desert them now," he told The Mirror.

"Although Guardiola has spent £200 million this summer, and Manchester City look formidable on paper, I just can’t rule out the Special One winning his fourth title in English football.

"I’m afraid it’s bad news for north London: I’m tipping both Arsenal and Tottenham to miss out on the top four this time."

As for champions Chelsea, Savage reckons even the £70million signing of Alvaro Morata won't be enough to fill Diego Costa's boots.

And the added return of Champions League football, as well as a host of midfielders being allowed to leave, could spell trouble for Antonio Conte's men, Savage says.

"What is going on at Stamford Bridge?" he said.

"I don’t understand why the champions have allowed Nemanja Matic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Nat Chalobah to leave without oven-ready replacements in midfield.

"And Alvaro Morata is a fine player – but is he really an upgrade on Diego Costa? Chelsea were fantastic last season, but with Champions League football back on the menu, they will find the going heavier."

Savage's final top six prediction:

Champions: Manchester United

2nd: Manchester City

3rd: Chelsea

4th: Liverpool

5th: Arsenal

6th: Tottenham
