Jose Mourinho orders Man Utd chiefs to sign Fabinho: £40.6m offer could clinch deal

JOSE MOURINHO has asked Manchester United chiefs to secure a move for Monaco star Fabinho.

Manchester United target Fabinho displays impressive skills

The Manchester United boss is eager to sign another wide player before the transfer window shuts later this month.

Mourinho has been looking at trying to secure a deal for Paris Saint-Germain star Serge Aurier.

But the Red Devils have failed in their pursuit despite claims in France of a £27million deal being agreed.

PSG are reluctant to sell but Spanish publication Don Balon claim the Frenchman has been refused a work permit for England and a deal is now off.

That has led to Mourinho turning his attentions to Monaco's Fabinho.

The Brazilian was linked with a move for the right back, who can also play in midfield, at the start of the transfer window.

The French champions snubbed their advances and have also reportedly rejected a £36.1m (€40m) offer from Atletico Madrid in recent weeks.

But Don Balon claim United can clinch a deal for the 23-year-old if they offer £40.6m (€45m).

Despite Mourinho's request to United to secure Fabinho's services, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will need to pull out all the stop to convince them to sell.

Monaco have already seen the likes of Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva and Tiemoue Bakayoko leave during the transfer window and they do not plan to lose any more.
