Lawrenson: More keepers should take pens...

08:55: Errr, here's an interesting line from Match of the Day pundit Mark Lawrenson.

He thinks more goalkeepers should take penalties, despite Thibaut Courtois ballooning his spot kick over the bar against Arsenal yesterday.

"I worry why goalkeepers don't take more penalties because if you really seriously think about it and we live in a world of stats with football nowadays," he mused on Match of the Day.

"They strike more dead balls than anybody else on the football pitch it was just a poor penalty.

"It's down Watford Junction High Road the ball."

Arsenal ready third Rugani bid

08:00: Arsenal are ready to submit a third offer for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

The Gunners saw their initial two bids rejected, but TMW claim Arsene Wenger's side will make another effort to sign the 23-year-old.

The Spanish attacker is looking to leave North London after spending most of the season warming the bench.

Alexis Sanchez to stay

05:00: Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has accepted Arsene Wenger will not let him go this summer, according to reports.

Sanchez’s future at Arsenal has become one of the stories of the summer, with a host of clubs keen to lure him away from north London.

The Chile international’s current contract expires next year and, as of yet, the club have failed to tie him down.

Arsene Wenger has spent the whole of pre-season insisting that Sanchez will not be allowed to leave.

And The Mirror say Sanchez has accepted that he is unlikely to be on the move before the transfer window shuts at the end of this month.

Failed Daniele Rugani bids

04:30: Arsenal have reportedly failed with two bids to sign Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

Arsenal are hoping for a better season than last time out with Arsene Wenger targeting a crack at the Premier League title.

The Gunners have already scooped one piece of silverware, winning the Community Shield via a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw with Antonio Conte’s Chelsea at Wembley.

Arsenal have signed Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette so far but Wenger knows more reinforcements are needed if they are to become kings of England once again.

And Transfer Market Web claim Arsenal have seen two bids rejected by Juventus for defender Rugani.

Arsene Wenger expects more summer exits

04:00: Arsene Wenger has admitted he expects more players to leave Arsenal this summer.

Wenger has already let three players head out of the Emirates exit - Wojciech Szczesny, Emiliano Martinez and Yaya Sanogo.

Olivier Giroud has been linked with a move away from the Gunners after the club broke their own transfer record to seal a deal for Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.

Despite their Community Shield win over Chelsea yesterday at Wembley, Wenger foresees more players leaving before the deadline on August 31.

“To be honest, the number is too high,” he said.

“We will let some players go.”
