Ian Wright says Gareth Bale should join Tottenham, not Manchester United

GARETH BALE should be looking at re-joining Tottenham instead of signing for Manchester United, according to Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

Ian Wright: Levy should try to bring Bale back to Spurs

Bale is linked with a move away from Real Madrid, four years after signing for the La Liga giants from Spurs for a then world record £85million fee.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho admitted today he would make an approach for the Welsh winger if he was no longer part of Zinedine Zidane's plans at the Bernabeu.

But Wright has risked the wrath of Arsenal fans by saying Tottenham, who are yet to make any new additions this summer, should go back in for Bale and thinks the 28-year-old would face a different challenge to what he could get at Old Trafford, after winning three Champions League trophies in his four years in Spain.

If I'm Daniel Levy, I'm doing every single thing I can to see if I can get Gareth Bale back to Spurs

Ian Wright on Man Utd target Gareth Bale

"If I'm Daniel Levy, I'm doing every single thing I can to see if I can get him back to Spurs," Wright said on the BBC.

"You say it's not going to happen but they've not signed anyone, suppose they just went bang (and went for Bale).

"You can speak to Gareth Bale and say 'you've got three Champions Leagues, what are you going to do at Man United, win another Champions League? Why don't you come here and take us to the next level?'

"You can sell that to Gareth Bale, go back to Spurs in this Spurs team.

"If Spurs made one signing and it was Gareth Bale, would people still talk about 'Spurs haven't made no signings, ha ha ha'?"

Bale has scored 54 goals in 100 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid since joining from Tottenham in 2013.
