Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho is playing ‘genius’ games with Gareth Bale comments

MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho is playing mind games with Real Madrid over his pursuit of Gareth Bale.

That is according to journalist and the presenter of Real Madrid TV Phil Kitromilides.

Mourinho yesterday claimed he would try to sign Bale if he was not part of the Real squad for the European Super Cup against his Manchester United side tonight.

The emergence of Isco in Bale's position while he was injured last season has put the Welshman's future at the Bernabeu in doubt, as has the pursuit of Monaco's teen sensation Kylian Mbappe.

But Kitromilides does not think the 28-year-old will be leaving Spain this summer and reckons Mourinho is just playing mind games with Madrid and fans.

You have to take your hat off to Jose Mourinho, who is already a master of mind games

"It's genius," Kitromilides said on talkSPORT of Mourinho's comments.

"You have to take your hat off to Mourinho, who is already a master of mind games and he's done it again yesterday.

"It's brilliant even by his standards. I don't think there is any chance Bale will leave this summer so it's just mind gamed from Mourinho yet again."

Champions League winners Real Madrid take on Europa League champions United in Skopje tonight.

Mourinho says he would wait for Bale after the game if it was clear he was no longer wanted by Real boss Zinedine Zidane.

"If he is in the plans of the coach and the club and it is in his own plans and ambitions to stay there, then I won't even think about it," Mourinho said.

"If he is not in the club's plans and it is true that a player like Bale is at the departure gate, I will try to be there waiting for him at the other side."
