Manchester United are said to have begun contract talks with Ibrahimovic over a new deal.

Manager Jose Mourinho is open to bringing the Swede back into the fold after the club passed on a contract renewal earlier this summer.

Ibrahimovic remains out with a knee injury but should be back fit in January.

AC Milan have been linked with the striker, with their own player Andrea Conti recently urging the club to strike a deal with the 35-year-old.

But Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport claim a move by the San Siro club is still a long way from happening.

According to the report, Ibrahimovic is a tempting prospect for manager Vincenzo Montella - but not a realistic one.

Milan are searching for a new striker as they look to offload Carlos Bacca.

Radamel Falcao and Diego Costa have been mooted as viable targets - although Costa isn't keen on a move to Italy - while Fiorentina's Nikola Kalinic is also on their radar.

And Corriere dello Sport claim Montella's need to strengthen his attacking unit this summer - rather than six months down the line when Ibrahimovic is fit - means a move for the Swede is not guaranteed.

For Milan, Ibrahimovic would be a luxury addition rather than a man to build a team around.

As for , earlier this week Mourinho explained Ibrahimovic's current situation in regards to his next club.

“Maybe he’ll stay with us," the Portuguese said.

“He has no contract but he is closer to Manchester.”
