Gareth Bale almost breaks crossbar in close attempt

Barcelona are ready to trigger the release clause of Real Madrid prodigy Marco Asensio, reports claim.

The Catalan giants are in the market for a world-class attacker following Neymar’s £198million move to Paris Saint-Germain.

And Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim their search has led them to pursue a deal for Asensio.

The 21-year-old has a release clause of £72million - a fee Barcelona are willing to pay.

Ernesto Valverde’s side may face a fight to prise him away from Los Blancos, however, with Asensio’s stock high at the La Liga champions.

Real Madrid's Marco Asensio and Gareth Bale are wanted by Barcelona and Manchester United

Manchester United think they can sign Gareth Bale after talks with Real Madrid, according to reports.

The Wales international continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford despite Jose Mourinho saying any pursuit was over.

But The Sun say Mourinho is confident a deal can get done.

The United manager supposedly garnered information that Real could be willing to let him go - should they be given enough time to land a top replacement.

Consequently, Ed Woodward is now reportedly set to offer Madrid a fee of £100m to part with the 27-year-old.

Southampton are keen on a loan deal for Atletico Madrid striker Luciano Vietto.

That’s according to Spanish newspaper Sport, who say the forward is on Mauricio Pellegrini’s wishlist.

Vietto arrived from Villarreal two years ago.

But his move has backfired, with the Argentinean spending last season on loan at Sevilla.

He endured a rocky time at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, managing to find the net just six times.
