Arsenal and Leicester got the Premier League season off to a flyer with a seven-goal thriller at the Emirates.

The Gunners twice came from behind to win the game 4-3 courtesy of late goals from Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud.

However, it was the Frenchman’s international team-mate Alexandre Lacazette who opened the scoring for Arsenal, finding the back of the net after just two minutes.

And Arsene Wenger has lauded the former Lyon striker’s debut and predicted he will get stronger for the Gunners as the season progresses.

Wenger backs Lacazette to adapt quickly to Premier League

"Lacazette is getting stronger in every game and tonight he put in a very convincing performance,” Wenger told Sky Sports.

However, the Arsenal boss was not overly impressed by his side’s defensive performance as they shipped three goals against Craig Shakespeare’s men.

"We know defensively we can do better but overall we produced a top-quality game,” he added.

"When the substitutes came on they had enough quality to make the difference.

"I'm convinced that overall this kind of game can strengthen the belief.

“When you're in difficult situations you're reminded you've done it before so can do it again.”

Petr Cech was similarly impressed by Arsenal’s steely determination and claimed the team have proven they can now win in the difficult moments.

“There were difficult moments when we were down and we managed to get out of that and it's great to see,” he added.
