OLIVIER GIROUD has ruled out leaving Arsenal for Everton after firing the Gunners to victory over Leicester on Friday night.

Giroud has been linked with a move away from Arsenal following the Gunners’ decision to splash £52million on Alexandre Lacazette.

With the France international and Danny Welbeck both starting ahead of him on Friday night, it seemed as if his time at the Emirates was drawing to a close.

Everton have been tipped to move for him as a potential replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who joined Manchester United last month.

Giroud, however, put all transfer talk aside and popped up with the winner as Arsenal beat Leicester 4-3 in their Premier League opener.

And the 30-year-old has now revealed he will be staying put.

“To be honest, there was something in my soul and in my heart which told me to stay,” he said.

“I have been hesitating because I am the most happy man when I play and I am on the pitch.

“I keep the faith and I still believe I can have an important part to play this season in the club.

“I feel good in my head and also physically. So I am 100 per cent focused on the club project.”

Giroud has divided supporters since arriving as a Robin van Persie replacement from Ligue 1 side Montpellier in 2012.

But the forward will no doubt be hoping to win more fans round if he continues to pop up with crucial goals this season.
