Arsenal could sign Petr Cech replacement in January - Tony Cascarino

TONY CASCARINO believes Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger may need to sign a new goalkeeper after a shaky display by Petr Cech against Leicester.

After Alexandre Lacazette had given Arsenal an early lead, they were pegged back almost immediately by the Foxes.

Cech was caught out when a ball crossed to the far post was headed back into the six yard box by Harry Maguire and Shinji Okazaki finished from close range.

The 35-year-old also looked far from convincing in dealing with Leicester's other two goals in the 4-3 win.

And Cascarino believes Cech is now playing on his reputation and doesn't think David Ospina is good enough to replace him.

Petr Cech was at fault for Shinji Okazaki's goal

"I’m not sure that Petr Cech will be No 1 at Arsenal come the end of season," Cascarino wrote in the Times.

"The 35-year-old is nowhere near the level he was and rather than using his experience to compensate for fading ability he looks increasingly shaky in goal.

"He’s playing on reputation but I’m not sure David Ospina is good enough to replace him.

"If this becomes a problem Arsene Wenger may have to look at buying a goalkeeper in January."
