Thierry Henry slams Arsenal: I see no change from last season – it’s always the same

ARSENAL legend Thierry Henry has hit out at his former side’s start to the season, despite picking up all three points against Leicester on Friday.

Martin Keown thinks Ozil and Sanchez will leave Arsenal

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal scored two goals in the final 10 minutes of their Premier League opener to beat Leicester 4-3 at the Emirates.

The Gunners’ defence came under severe criticism for the goals they conceded, with the likes of Laurent Koscielny, Shkodran Mustafi and Gabriel all absent for the match.

But Henry does not lie the blame at the door of just the defence and says the players in front of them are also the cause.

Arsenal’s club-record goalscorer says it’s a problem he sees too often at the Emirates and does not think there has been a change from last season’s disappointing campaign.

Thierry Henry says Arsenal have not changed from last season

Based on how they played, I saw that too often last year. I didn't see any change

Thierry Henry on Arsenal

"You can talk about evolution or revolution at Arsenal, I call it stagnation," Henry said on Sky Sports.

"I watched the game against Leicester and I could tell you what was going to happen. When I go to the Emirates and I watch the game, it's 'Yes!' when we have the ball and 'No!' when the opposition does.

"Every time Leicester had the ball I felt they were going to score and every time we had the ball I felt we were going to score.

"People can have a go at the defence but when you play in a back three, it is what is happening in front of you that counts a lot. If you don't apply pressure well you will be exposed in a back three.

Thierry Henry was not impressed by Arsenal during their game against Leicester

"What I saw, I have seen so many times. Arsenal came back into the game, Aaron Ramsey came on and Olivier Giroud saved the day. But I have seen that too many times.

"Are you always going to score four and concede three? At some point you will be found out.

"It was the first game of the season and, yes, some of the guys were new in the team. But based on how they played, I saw that too often last year. I didn't see any change."

Arsenal's next game is this Saturday against Mark Hughes' Stoke at the Bet365 Stadium (5.30pm).
