The 23-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan at Ligue 1 side Nice but has returned to his parent club this term.

Pereira has featured in both of Porto’s league games this campaign, playing the full 90 minutes against Estoril and Tondela.

And The Sun report Manchester United sent scouts to watch the right-back in action in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Tondela.

It is claimed Tottenham representatives were also present to watch the defender in action.

Pereira is often deployed as a right-back but has proved equally competent in right wing-back role and on the left side of defence.

Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain have also been touted as registering an interest in Pereira.

It is reported Porto have slapped a £20million price-tag on Pereira with Europe’s top clubs lurking.

Jose Mourinho is keen to bolster his squad before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Antonio Valencia is an ever-present in Mourinho’s United side in the right-back position and captained the side in Sunday’s 4-0 win over West Ham.

But the United boss has made bolstering his options in the full-back area a priority this summer with Daley Blind his only option at left-back with Luke Shaw out injured.

Meanwhile Mauricio Pochettino is yet to bring in any new players at Tottenham this summer with Kyle Walker joining Manchester City.

Kyle Walker-Peters started for Spurs in the 2-0 win over Newcastle at the weekend with Kieran Trippier out injured.
