Manchester United are reportedly keen to sell Luke Shaw

Manchester United have been busy this summer, spending around £140million on Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof.

However, Jose Mourinho has not finished his transfer business and admitted last week he was still holding out for a fourth signing.

The new arrival is expected to be a left-back and the Daily Record claim United are prepared to sell Luke Shaw to make the deal happen.

It is said Mourinho wants the defender to be an integral member of his starting XI and to have Champions League quality.

Jose Mourinho: Luke Shaw is a long way behind in the team

Speaking about United's transfer business last week, Mourinho admitted his fourth signing would "play from the sides", hinting he would be a full-back.

"We got a centre midfielder, we got a striker," he said.

"Obviously [we wanted] a player for another position playing from the sides.

"But we have players and if you cannot strengthen the team in these areas, we have people that we trust and we go for it."

Shaw has been linked with a move to Tottenham this week amid speculation Danny Rose could leave but his agent Jonathan Barnett dismissed the claims.

“Luke Shaw is going to be one of the best left-backs in the world," he told website IBTimesUK.

"Manchester United love him and Luke Shaw loves Manchester United.”

Shaw is under contract at Old Trafford until June 2018 but made just 19 appearances for the Red Devils last term in all competitions.
