De Gea to Real Madrid: Man Utd will only sell star next summer if they can land Donnarumma

MANCHESTER UNITED will only let David De Gea join Real Madrid next year if they secure AC Milan star Gianluigi Donnarumma as his replacement, according to reports.

Angry Italy fans throw fake money at United target Donnarumma

Manchester United fended off Real Madrid two years ago when De Gea looked destined to move to the Bernabeu.

And though Los Blancos have postponed any further attempts to sign the Spain international, reports are speculating they are ready to return with a fresh bid.

De Gea is known to want a move to Real further down the line but has not agitated for a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

And The Sun say Manchester United will only sanction a move if they secure the signing of Donnarumma.

The Italian was expected to leave the San Siro but ultimately signed a fresh five-year contract after a huge backlash from the footballing world.

But The Sun claim that, despite committing his future to the San Siro giants, Donnarumma may leave next year if Milan fail to secure Champions League football.

United would be frontrunners for the 18-year-old should he depart, particularly given Mino Raiola's influence.

Raiola has brokered deals for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba, Sergio Romero and Romelu Lukaku to join Jose Mourinho's side in the past 13 months alone.

And, given Donnarumma is another client on his books, a transfer could be feasible.

Real Madrid are still hoping to sign David De Gea from Manchester United

De Gea's contract at United runs until 2019 - meaning United could be tempted to cash in on him.

Journalist Ian McGarry thinks it is only a matter of time before the Red Devils shotstopper replaces Keylor Navas at the Bernabeu - and it might even happen this summer.

"What we also know is De Gea sees himself playing for Real Madrid in his career," he told the Transfer Window podcast.

"He's already imagined himself in that shirt.

"He will want the move and if it comes back that they make him personally a very good offer in terms of the contract and that they offer enough money for United to be tempted to sell this could be one that we see finally concluded when the window closes in September."
