RAY PARLOUR has warned Tottenham of the Wembley home curse - because he's experienced it firsthand himself.

Ray Parlour believes Tottenham could struggle at Wembley this year

Parlour was a key part of the Arsenal side which, for two years from 1998, played their Champions League matches at Wembley.

The club moved out of Highbury for the big games as they tried to prove to sponsors they were able to attract crowds of 60,000-plus.

The experiment flopped as Arsenal won just one game in each season as they struggled to adapt to their new surroundings.

Redevelopment at White Hart Lane has forced Tottenham to rehome at Wembley and they play their first league match there tomorrow against Chelsea.

Parlour told talkSPORT: "We were there for the Champions League and these European sides lifted their game.

"It was really difficult and we were playing away from home as well.

"When you're playing at Highbury it's so much different, you know the surroundings, you know the dressing room areas.

"It's just the little things that make you play better and get the results.

"When you go to Wembley, it was one of the best performances I've ever seen from one side there - Dynamo Kiev.

"It was like a pinball machine. You know when you can't get the ball off them.

"They had 75 per cent of possession to our 25 per cent and we nicked it and drew 1-1. They had Andriy Shevchenko and Sergiy Rebrov up front. Then they had Louzhny on the right who we ended up buying because he kept running past Marc Overmars.

"It's really difficult."
