Real Madrid star Karim Benzema is set to sign a new contract

Benzema, 29, has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer.

The Real Madrid striker has been tracked by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger for years.

Reports in Spain on Friday suggested an offer from Arsenal for the frontman could be lodged before deadline day.

But French newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche claim he is not leaving the Bernabeu.

According to the report, France international Benzema will extend his contract by a further two years, with his current deal ending in 2019.

Benzema joined Real from Lyon in 2009 and while he has regularly been linked with a move away from the club no suitor has ever convinced Real to sell up.

Real want his new contract tied up by the end of the month.

Le Journal du Dimanche claim Benzema was offered a move to China in January, where he would have earned €50m (£45m) a season at Tianjin Quanjian.

But the striker was not interested in the deal.

Spanish outlet Don Balon claimed Benzema could have been involved in a swap deal that would see Alexis Sanchez move to the Bernabeu.

But that appears unlikely, with Arsenal determined to keep Sanchez even though he has just 11 months remaining on his contract.
