ARSENAL have reportedly denied claims Alexis Sanchez submitted a transfer request today.

Sanchez was a frustrated figure on Sunday as Arsenal were thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool at Anfield.

It was his first appearance of the season after a late return from international duty and a muscle injury.

Sanchez has entered the final 12 months of his Arsenal contract and has so far rejected all renewal offers made.

And Independent journalist Shehab Khan caused Arsenal fans to fear the worst when he tweeted: "Alexis Sanchez has reportedly handed in a transfer request at Arsenal."

But the tweet was swiftly deleted and the newspaper later denied the claims, saying Arsenal have told them that the reports are not true.

Nevertheless, with three days left in the transfer window, fears that Sanchez could leave are mounting.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been adamant the Chilean will not leave this summer in the hope he could be convinced to sign a new deal.

But reports have suggested a bid of around £60million could convince Arsenal to sell - and Manchester City are more than capable of paying that fee.
