Arsenal transfer news: Alexis Sanchez unhappy after Liverpool humiliation

ALEXIS SANCHEZ is unhappy at Arsenal but the club still believes he can be persuaded to sign a new contract.

Sanchez’s Arsenal future remains in major doubt with just three days left in the transfer window and the likelihood of him signing a new deal slim.

And the Chilean’s mood will not have been helped by Arsenal’s 4-0 capitulation to Liverpool on Sunday.

On the pitch the 28-year-old fumed at his team-mates as basic errors were made and when substituted, he was pictured smiling on the bench.

But according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, Sanchez’s unhappiness with life at Arsenal has grown following yesterday’s defeat.

We've been told by one source that Alexis Sanchez is unhappy at Arsenal

He tweeted: “We've been told by one source that Alexis Sanchez is unhappy at Arsenal - even more so after yesterday’s 4-0 defeat at Liverpool.

“Arsenal position is Sanchez is happy at the club and happy to stay.

“They haven't given up hope that he'll sign new contract this season.”

Manchester City are keen on signing Sanchez if he becomes available and former England midfielder Danny Murphy believes Arsenal are in trouble with or without him.

He told BBC Sport: “If they let Sanchez go they're in a world of trouble. They're in a world of trouble anyway.

Alexis Sanchez is a frustrated figure at Arsenal

“His body language wasn't good when he came off - in fact before he came off you could tell he was despondent.

“But he still had a go and didn't look like someone who was not trying.

“Some Gunners fans might be annoyed by a camera picking out Sanchez appearing to smile as he was sitting on the bench, but that's not a big issue for me. We don't know what he was looking at - there could have been a policeman in front of him fall over or anything.

“It was a little quick smile; he soon went back to looking as miserable as sin. No-one can accuse Sanchez of not caring. Over the past couple of seasons he has put in more effort than anybody.

“But does he want to be there now? I don't think so. With speculation linking him to Manchester City, I can see him going before Thursday.”
