Arsenal dressing room bust-up: Cech blasts team-mates, players shocked at Wenger decisions

ARSENAL goalkeeper Petr Cech reportedly delivered a furious dressing room cross-examination to his team-mates after they were thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool on Sunday.

In an early test of their Premier League title credentials, the Gunners were abject as they taken apart by Jurgen Klopp’s men at Anfield.

And the result could have been even worse if not for some fine saves by Cech.

After the match, Cech was one of the few Arsenal players to speak to the media and he was scathing in his assessment.

He said: “It was quite simply unacceptable for the size of the club we are and for the team we have.

I'd like him to go because I do not believe now he can motivate the players. It's for himself and for his own sanity.

“Obviously you can come here and lose 4-0. OK, it can happen on a bad day when you fight but you are unlucky and your opponent is playing well and scores with every shot they have. Then it can happen.

“But not like it happened today. The way it happened today is unacceptable.

“We were not fighting, we were not running enough, we were not winning any individual battles and as a team we completely failed to respond to their way of playing, and that is the most disappointing thing. But we have only ourselves to blame.”

And according to the Telegraph, Cech went even further behind closed doors, telling his team-mates they had let the club down and embarrassed themselves.

The report adds that several senior players were surprised by manager Arsene Wenger’s decision to start Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain when the player had told the club he wanted to leave just days before.

Players were also “bewildered” by Alexandre Lacazette starting on the bench while Alexis Sanchez was brought back in.

Speaking on BBC Radio Five Live, former Arsenal legend Ian Wright called on Wenger to leave.

He said: "Do I think he should go? I'd like him to go because I do not believe now he can motivate the players. It's for himself and for his own sanity.

"It's an absolute nightmare - where does he go from here? That team has not played for Wenger for years.
