Arsenal news: 'My Chelsea and Tottenham-supporting mates feel sorry for me! - Ian Wright

ARSENAL fans face being tormented by rival supporters after the club suffered a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday, according to Ian Wright.

Ian Wright: My Chelsea and Tottenham-supporting mates pity me

Former Arsenal striker Wright claimed that rival supporters “felt sorry for him” after the club's painful defeat at Anfield.

Many fans called for to walk away from the club last season, but after winning the FA Cup, the French manager vowed to begin a new era at Arsenal signing a new two-year deal.

The Gunners have struggled in the opening Premier League games, earning only three points, and were thrashed by Liverpool on Sunday.

And speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Wright claimed that rival supporters “felt sorry for him” after the loss.

Ian Wright said opposition fans felt sorry for him because of Arsenal's poor start to the season

He said: “We got exactly what we deserved but I didn’t expect to see such a listless, the performance as terrible.

“Watching Arsene Wenger on the bench almost, his hands, playing with his hands at one stage. It looked very, very uncomfortable and it was embarrassing.

“My mates, Chelsea, Tottenham, Man United [supporters], they feel sorry for me man. And they are genuinely, it’s not like they are saying ‘you know, it’s a great club, it’ll come back’.

“They genuinely feel sorry for me because we do not look, when you go through that list of everything, that is going wrong, and you’ve got to throw in recruitment in there.

“Whoever’s doing recruitment, someone has got to have a massive word. It’s an absolute shambles and I’m really gutted for everybody involved.”

The former Arsenal star even went as far as calling for Wenger to resign just three games into the new Premier League season.

He continued: “It comes back to his door. We are three games in and are at crisis point.

“Do I think he should go? I’d like him to go because I do not believe now he can motivate the players. It’s for himself and for his own sanity.

“It’s an absolute nightmare – where does he go from here? That team has not played for Wenger for years. Why can’t we get the players to play for us? Wenger carries the can.”

Arsenal, who currently sit 16th in the table, host Bournemouth when league action resumes after the international break on September 9.
