LEEDS are closing in on two signings as well as launching an enquiry for Newcastle hitman Dwight Gayle, according to reports.

High on Thomas Christiansen's agenda is a forward, after losing last term's top-scorer Chris Wood to Premier League side Burnley.

And the Daily Mail claim two new faces are incoming, while a third may be in the offing.

It is said Leeds are closing in on a loan deal for Hamburg's Pierre Michel Lasogga, who has been earmarked as a Wood replacement by Christiansen following the striker's departure.

The 25-year-old, who was named in the Germany squad for a friendly against Chile three years ago, looks set to leave the Bundesliga.

He showed during the 2013/2014 season he had the potential to be a top striker, scoring 15 goals from 24 games.

However, his form has waned in the years since with Lasogga managing to find the net just twice from 22 appearances last season.

Aditionally, Leeds are closing in on the signing of Pawel Cibicki.

The Malmo striker is expected to move to Elland Road for a fee of £1.5million.

Leeds Transfer News: Dwight Gayle has been enquired about

The Daily Mail say Leeds have also enquired about the availability of Newcastle's Dwight Gayle.

Gayle shone in the Championship last term, scoring 23 goals following his move from Crystal Palace.

But, after Joselu's move to Newcastle from Stoke, Rafa Benitez has deemed the 26-year-old surplus to requirements.

That could work in Leeds' favour with Christiansen an admirer.
