Man Utd should make Antoine Griezmann move if Alexis Sanchez joins Man City

MANCHESTER UNITED should counter Manchester City's attempts to sign Alexis Sanchez by reviving their interest in Antoine Griezmann.

Jesse Lingard reveals he wants Antoine Griezmann at Man United

Manchester United tried to sign Griezmann earlier this summer after Jose Mourinho made him his No1 target.

However, Atletico's transfer ban meant the forward was reluctant to leave Diego Simeone's side and opted to stay in Spain for one more year.

Yet it appears Griezmann is already regretting that decision.

Speaking earlier this week, Spanish football expert Guillem Balague said the forward still wanted to make the move to Jose Mourinho's side.

"What I’ve been saying all along is that Griezmann is open to the possibility of moving, not just to Manchester United but to any top club,” he told Sky Sports.

“He will do that every summer because he realises that benefits him, whether that be through getting a new deal or getting a move.

“He is happy in Madrid but he will play with the United fans and tease them."

So, if Sanchez signs for Manchester City, what better way to get even?

The Red Devils are also supposedly keen to sign the Chile international but the Arsenal star himself wants a reunion with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.

Sanchez to Man City: The Arsenal star favours a move to the Etihad over Man Utd

A move for the player, who scored 30 goals for the Gunners last term, would instantly make City title favourites.

But, should United go for Griezmann, then that would make them likely to lift the trophy.

The 26-year-old is one of the best strikers in world football and his versatility would make him a key asset for Mourinho.

During his younger years he was often deployed out wide, while there would be an expectancy for him to forge a frightening partnership with Romelu Lukaku.
