ARSENAL fans will understand if the club decide to sell Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City before the transfer window shuts tomorrow.

That is the opinion of pundit and former West Ham defender Tony Gale.

Arsenal turned down a bid of £50million for Sanchez from Manchester City earlier this week.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has stood firm this summer and repeatedly stated Sanchez will not be sold.

However, Sanchez is keen on moving to the Etihad, with his contract at Arsenal expiring at the end of this season.

Despite Arsene Wenger promising supporters that last season’s top scorer will be staying at the club, Gale thinks fans will understand it is the best move for all parties for him to go.

“I think they’d understand that,” Gale said on Sky Sports.

“I think they’d understand if a player is no use to them if he hasn’t got the right attitude.

“Obviously the financial side of it, Arsenal have got to get something for him.

“Unless they just let his contract run down and he goes on a free transfer.

“I think they’d understand and if you were a real fan, you would want 11 players on the pitch all trying their hearts out at the moment.

“Because it isn’t good and they need a performance.”

Alexis Sanchez made his first appearance of the season in Arsenal’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

He is currently with the Chile squad ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Paraguay tomorrow.
