Saturday September 2

Gerrard pleased with Ox signing

11:10:: Steven Gerrard is pleased to see former England team-mate Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at Liverpool after the 24-year-old completed a deadline day move from Arsenal.

Liverpool legend Gerrard, now coach of the club's under-18 side, said: “I think he definitely strengthens the group and the team.

"He's English, he's 24, he's just coming into his peak years.

“He's a very quick and exciting player. It seems as if he wasn't happy at Arsenal, so now hopefully he can settle down, give the best years of his career at Liverpool Football Club.

“But I think he's a very, very positive signing.”

Mbappe jet

09:48: Barcelona had a private jet waiting to fly Kylian Mbappe to the Nou Camp on deadline day as they sweated over a deal for Philippe Coutinho.

“Barcelona made a lot of progress. To the extent that on Wednesday people thought the deal was going to go through,” journalist Duncan Castles said on The Transfer Window podcast.

“They had prepared a jet to fly him from France to Catalonia for a medical on Thursday morning. However, that kicked PSG into action.

“They stopped that’d deal from happening, secured Mbappe and got an agreement with Monaco in which they would take the player on loan with a compulsory buy option for next season, which shifts the cost of the transfer fee one year on and avoid FFP (sanctions) and announce the transfer.”

Arsenal legal threat

08:24: Manchester City could take legal action against Arsenal over their failed move to sign Alexis Sanchez, claim Chilean newspaper El Mercurio.

Arsenal star Sanchez looked set to join City as the Gunners lined up a replacement in Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.

But the deadline day deals didn’t go through, leaving City boss Pep Guardiola fuming that he couldn’t land his top target.

And El Mercurio claim City will not let the situation rest.

City will supposedly file a lawsuit against Arsenal over what they believe is the breaking of a gentleman’s agreement between the clubs.

Pogba hint for Lemar

07:08: Has Paul Pogba dropped a subtle hint that he wants Thomas Lemar at Manchester United?

United were linked to Lemar in the transfer window and the player refused a move to Arsenal on deadline day.

And in an instagram post featuring himself and Lemar celebrating France’s win over Netherlands, Pogba wrote: “Happy with yesterday's result, working for the next goal.”

Using the hashtags ‘#fiersdetrebleus #heretocreate #AgentP’

Pogba used self-given Agent P nickname around the Romelu Lukaku deal. And maybe he’s doing it again with international team-mate Lemar.

Arsenal should've signed Drinkwater

05:25: Arsenal should have tried to sign Chelsea new boy Danny Drinkwater, according to Paul Merson.

Merson wrote in his column for The Daily Star: “Arsenal should have bid for Danny Drinkwater rather than let him go to Chelsea.

“At least he will fight for you.

“This lot just give up.”

Arsenal not selling Sanchez is 'ridiculous'

04:05: Arsenal’s refusal to sell Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City is ‘just ridiculous’, according to Ian Wright.

“Letting the deadline pass without selling Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez was just ridiculous,” Wright wrote in his column for The Sun.

“It did not make any sense in football or financial terms.

“Why would you refuse to sell Sanchez for £60million, just because you think he is a £100m player? If he had another three years left on his contract, yeah, hold out for every penny you can get.

“But we all know he’s off whatever happens next summer, so Arsenal are probably going to end up with sweet FA for him.

“And for what? Do they really think that for the next eight months he is going to be the player he was a couple of seasons ago?

“Good luck with that one.”

Fellaini agreement with Galatasaray?

03:20: Marouane Fellaini will leave Manchester United next summer after striking an agreement-in-principle with Galatasaray.

Fellaini has just ten months remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford and can leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Turkish-Football add Fenerbahce have also been in talks regarding a move for Fellaini.

It is said the Yellow Canaries are interested in signing him in January, which could tempt United into negotiating a deal for him as they could get some cash for him.

Juve want Liverpool star Can in January

01:20: Liverpool could leave Liverpool for Juventus for just £9million in January.

Can, 23, has less than ten months remaining on his current deal at Liverpool.

But Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport say the Germany international has no intention of signing fresh terms at Anfield.

It is said Liverpool rejected a deadline day bid of £23million from Juventus for Can.

However, the former Bayer Leverkusen midfielder will only agree to joining the Italian giants this winter if they qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Friday September 1

Remy signs out

21.04: Las Palmas have announced the signing of striker Loic Remy from Chelsea.

The 30-year-old, a former France international, has joined the LaLiga outfit on a two-year deal.

Remy passed a medical in London on Thursday and will now fly to Gran Canaria and join training on Saturday before his unveiling.

Remy has yet to play in Spain during a career which has also seen him represent Lyon, Nice, Marseille, QPR, Newcastle and Crystal Palace.

He is the second former Premier League player to sign for Las Palmas this week, after ex-Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani was also brought in.

Alexis Sanchez threatens to go on strike

Alexis Sanchez doesn’t want to play for Arsenal again after his deadline day move to Manchester City broke down yesterday.

Sanchez was desperate to quit Arsenal and wanted to join Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

He had agreed a £300,000 a week deal at City and a fee of around £60m was agreed on the proviso that Arsenal could land a replacement.

But the deal for Thomas Lemar broke down yesterday leaving Arsenal short and with no time to find an alternative, meaning they canceled the Sanchez sale.

But Goal report that Sanchez doesn’t want to play for the club again and City are hopeful of landing him in January in a cut price deal.

It is claimed City could look to pay less than half during the next transfer window.

Sanchez is believed to have vented his frustration at Arsenal officials over the failed transfer and has threatened to go on strike.

Philippe Coutinho BarcelonaGETTY

Philippe Coutinho remained at Liverpool despite Barcelona's interest

Barcelona give up on Coutinho

15.45: Barcelona have finally given up on their pursuit of Philippe Coutinho.

Barca made a late offer for Coutinho last night and were hoping to push through a deal before the Spanish deadline which comes tonight.

But Sport claim Barca have now given up and will not pursue the deal further at this time.

Barcelona wanted Coutinho to help fill the void left by Neymar, who joined PSG for £198m earlier in the summer.

They did manage to sign Ousmane Dembele from Borussia Dortmund, but they remained keen on Coutinho until today.

Sport claim that Liverpool indicated they were not willing to sell despite Coutinho handing in a transfer request and suggesting he would go on strike.

Costa update

15:06: Chelsea are holding out for a £50m package from Atletico Madrid for rebel striker Diego Costa, as talks continue between the two clubs today.

Atletico have only offered £45m so far, but they have until midnight tonight before the Spanish transfer window closes, and Chelsea are expecting an improved bid.

However, Atletico are in no rush to push the deal through and could be prepared to wait until January, according to sources in Spain.

The Spanish club cannot register any new players until then anyway because of a Fifa ban – but they can buy them.

Guillem Balague: Liverpool insist Coutinho is NOT for sale

Costa discontent?

13:56: Sergio Ramos hinted at discontent in the Spain squad over Diego Costa’s absence.

Spain face Italy tomorrow in their 2018 World Cup qualifier in Madrid, but Costa is back in Brazil as he looks to complete a late move away from Chelsea to Brazil.

And Ramos said: “I could say a thousand things on Diego Costa. Every player plans his holidays and his life as he sees fit.

“I don’t know the matter [with his club] so I can’t say anything about that. I hope that if right now he has more time to rest then he can come back with the same attitude as ever.”

Coutinho sadness

12:54: Neymar has revealed Philippe Coutinho is living in “great sadness” with his move to Barcelona looking increasingly uncertain.

The Liverpool star is pushing for a move to Nou Camp and is becoming frustrated at his situation.

However, he did score in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Ecuador last night.

"I'm very happy that he scored a goal because at this moment he lives a very great sadness,”  Neymar said.

"He helped us to the victory. He's a great player and did very well when he came on."

Chelsea to regret outgoings

12:00: Paul Merson was impressed by Chelsea’s incomings this summer but believes they could live to regret letting a number of their players leave.

He told Sky Sports: “I didn't think they needed a lot and Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko are good players and I would have given them a higher mark if they hadn't let Nemanja Matic move to Manchester United.

“I also wonder if Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Nathaniel Chalobah will come back to haunt them?”

Lemar eyes Liverpool

11:52: Liverpool could still pull off a deal for Thomas Lemar in the near future.

Lemar rejected the chance of a move to Arsenal yesterday and was hoping for a switch to Liverpool instead.

However, Liverpool failed to agree terms with Monaco at such short notice before the 11pm deadline and Lemar ended up staying with the Ligue 1 champions.

L’Equipe claim the Merseyside outfit could still strike a deal in the near future as he ‘only has eyes for Liverpool.’

Depending on how Liverpool’s campaign pans out, Jurgen Klopp could pursue the the 21-year-old again as early as January.

Henry stops Coutinho move

09:56: John W Henry personally intervened to make sure Philippe Coutinho didn’t join Barcelona.

The Independent say the Liverpool owner was behind the FSG backed statement earlier this summer that laid down a marker insisting that the brilliant Brazilian was going nowhere.

Coutinho handed in a transfer request and Barcelona had three bids rejected.

But it is said Henry himself made the call that Coutinho would remain a Liverpool player whatever happened.

Sanchez furious

09:00: Alexis Sanchez is furious he did not get his move to Manchester City.

In a hectic deadline day, Arsenal refused to sanction his exit after failing in their pursuit of Monaco star Thomas Lemar.

And the Chilean made the back pages of several papers today.

Coutinho to join Barca NEXT summer

08:20: Liverpool have agreed to sell Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona - but he will stay with the club this season and join next summer.

Barcelona have until midnight to secure a deal for the Brazilian and are ready to break the bank to sign him with a fee of £148million mooted.

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have insisted he is not for sale but Spanish publication Sport claim they have now had a change of heart and are set to cash in on him.

The report claims Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group have agreed to let Coutinho seal his dream move to the Nou Camp but he will have to wait a season to move there.

Similar to Liverpool’s deal for Naby Keita, Barca are expected to reach an agreement for Coutinho to join next summer.

All eyes on Coutinho

07:15: Barcelona are ready to make an offer worth up to £160million for Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

However, Balague doubts they will submit the bid because Barcelona do not think Liverpool will sell Coutinho.

The Spanish transfer window is open until midnight tomorrow night but Liverpool would have to source a replacement, which they cannot do after 11pm.

“It’s not up to him so it’s got no link with Coutinho because Coutinho has got no link with anything.

“Liverpool have said from day one ‘we are not selling’. They told him as well, we’re not selling.

‘As a consequence he asked for a transfer request because he was so upset by the fact that Liverpool are not letting him go.

“Barcelona and Coutinho’s people now are finally getting the message and even though an offer is ready, £150million, perhaps £160million, they haven’t sent it yet, not at this point and they’re very pessimistic this could actually work.

“Liverpool have always been clear. In the three offers they received, the response has been no and the rejection has been sent back to Barcelona within the hour.

“So Liverpool are not getting rid of Coutinho.”

Barcelona could still complete a deal for Philippe Coutinho today

Phil McNulty on Ross Barkley

05:30: Chelsea could resurrect their interest in Everton star Ross Barkley in the January transfer window, according to BBC Sport reporter Phil McNulty.

Barkley was very close to joining Chelsea earlier this evening, but at the 11th hour, walked out of a medical.

And while accepting the story was strange, McNulty reckons the Blues will try to go after the midfielder again in the New Year.

“Ross Barkley's transfer to Chelsea was all but done,” McNulty said.

“He won't be playing much before December anyway and I'm sure it will be revisited in the New Year.

“It certainly is a strange situation.”

Chamberlain will be world class

04:30: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will prove to be a great piece of business by Liverpool.

That’s according to former England international Trevor Sinclair.

“When you get him on the field is world class and he is a match winner,” Sinclair told BBC’s Football Focus.

“Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain turned down £180,000 a week at Arsenal to take £120,000 at Liverpool. For me that says he believes in the manager Jurgen Klopp.”

Barca want Ozil as Coutinho alternative

03:40: Barcelona have lined up Arsenal contract rebel Mesut Ozil as a last-minute alternative to Philippe Coutinho.

Coutinho, 25, has been the subject of three rejected bids of £70million, £90m and £118m from Barcelona.

And the La Liga giants are set to make a fourth and final offer in the region of £138m for the Brail international.

But Spanish outlet COPE claim if Barca miss out on Coutinho they instead turn their attentions to signing Ozil.

It is said Arsenal value the Germany international at around £55m.

SAKHO DONE DEAL

02:15: Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool.

Sakho, 27, returns to Crystal Palace after a succesful loan spell last season and has put pen-to-paper on a four-year contract after the two clubs reached an agreement over a £26million fee.

Speaking about his return to Crystal Palace, Sakho said: “I loved the challenge last year; it was difficult but beautiful and it’s why this summer I thought that Palace was the best choice.

“I am really happy to be here because I have some friends here.

“I am really excited about playing for the Palace fans again, but in football the past is the past and you need to think about today and tomorrow.

“Last year we did a good job and we need to prove that again and have a good objective. If we put all of our power together, we will have a great season."

DRINKWATER DONE DEAL

02:00: Chelsea have managed to thrash out a deal for Leicester star Danny Drinkwater.

The Blues were hoping to complete the signing before deadline day, however were granted an extension and completed it after the window closed at 11pm.

Drinkwater has put pen to paper on a five-year deal and becomes the club’s sixth acquisition of the summer.

Speaking after his move, Drinkwater said: “I’m delighted to be a Chelsea player and can’t wait to get started.

“It has been a long journey to get here but I am very happy and am looking forward to helping the club win more trophies.”

Janssen to Brighton OFF

01:30: Another deal has collapsed at the last minute...and this time it's Vincent Janssen's move to Brighton.

The Tottenham striker was the subject of last-minute interest from the newly-promoted side with Chris Hughton keen to bolster his attacking ranks.

But the deal has failed to materialise. Janssen will not return to Spurs and continue to act as cover for Harry Kane.

Niasse to Palace OFF

01:20: Oumar Niasse's propsed move to Crystal Palace from Everton is OFF.

Palace agreed a fee with Everton for the striker’s services on deadline day.

The Eagles had until 1am to get a deal over the line for the Senegal international.

But Bridge has revealed that his proposed move to Selhurst Park has fallen through at the last minute.

On Twitter, Bridge said: “Confirmation: Palace will NOT be signing Oumar Niasse from Everton.”

Sakho speaks out

01:00: Mamadou Sakho has spoken for the first time since Liverpool agreed a fee with Crystal Palace for the defender to leave on a permanent deal.

Jurgen Klopp made it clear to the player he had no future at Anfield but Palace left it late to complete a deal for the defender.

And the 27-year-old is delighted to be back at Selhurst Park, where he spent the second half of last season on loan.

“I’m happy,” he told Sky Sports News. “I’m happy to be back.”

TRANSFER WINDOW CLOSED

Three deals to go

23:26: THREE Premier League clubs still have open applications for an extension to the transfer windows in order to complete deals currently taking place.

Chelsea have until 1am Friday morning to sign Danny Drinkwater.

For that to happen Leicester will need to land Adrien Silva, otherwise they won’t let the England midfielder go.

As for the third - Crystal Palace are still working on a deal to sign Mamdou Sakho from Liverpool.

Spurs DONE DEAL

23:23: Tottenham have signed Fernando Llorente from Swansea.

The striker has signed a two-year deal with the north London club.

And it means Swansea have now completed a deal to re-sign their former striker Wilfred Bony from Manchester City.

Man City mistake

23:16: Manchester City failed to sign Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez, because they tried to buy the player for as cheap as possible.

Those are the thoughts of BBC Sport pundit Trevor Sinclair.

“I think brinkmanship and leaving it right to the last minute cost them,” Sinclair told BBC’s The Premier League Show.

“They tried to get the player for as cheap as possible.

“This may have backfired and you look at Sanchez who was desperate to leave Arsenal, as they have not matched his ambition.”

Sinclair reckons Sanchez will be very disappointed a move didn’t materialise.

He added: “It will be an uncomfortable situation not just for the supporters, but also with his team-mates in the dressing room.

“I can imagine what he will be like - he’ll be very upset.”

DONE DEAL

23:09: Chelsea have signed Davide Zappacosta from Torino.

The wing-back has signed a four-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Torino confirmed the late deal after accepting a £27.6m bid from the Blues.

The transfer window has CLOSED!

23:00: However, that doesn’t mean deals cannot be done.

The Premier League have relieved the scrap of paper clubs need to have signed to show their intention land a player.

Of, and Spain’s transfer window closes on Friday.

Danny Drinkwater Chelsea transfer newsGETTY

Danny Drinkwater is having a medical at Chelsea

Leicester DONE DEAL

22:58: Leicester have signed Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Aleksandar Dragovic on loan until the end of the season.

The Foxes will be pleased with that!

Drinkwater medical at Chelsea

22:55: Danny Drinkwater has arrived at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground to undergo a medical.

That is according to transfer guru Jim White.

Chelsea have been chasing Leicester star Drinkwater for the past few weeks with Antonio Conte desperate to add to his squad.

Chelsea had a £23m bid rejected by Leicester for the England international and are thought to be in advanced talks over a compromise fee before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Therefore an agreement could be reached in the region of £30m.

Barkley revelation

22:42: A fresh update coming to Express Sport on Ross Barkley.

It is understood the Everton player has decided against a summer transfer.

Everton and Chelsea had a £35m deal for Barkley agreed and he underwent a medical in London.

But he has decided to remain at Everton and work out his next career move in January.

Fair to say Antonio Conte will be fuming at this.

No Barkley, no Drinkwater.

Barcelona transfer news Andre GomesGETTY

Barcelona's Andre Gomes is not going to Tottenham

Giroud snub

22:34: Olivier Giroud wanted to leave Arsenal to join Everton this summer, but his wife prevented the deal from happening.

That’s according to Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam, who claims a move was close to completion.

"I heard his partner refused the deal," Adam said.

"The deal was nearly done, he wanted to come, but I heard it was his girlfriend or wife that turned it down."

Thomas Lemar speaks

22:31: Thomas Lemar seems to be keeping his options open on a move away from Monaco despite Arsenal failing to land the player.

Speaking after scoring in France’s 4-0 win over Holland tonight, he said: "We’ll see what happens.

”For the moment I am a Monaco player and everything is going very well."

Barkley snubbed Chelsea in medical

22:28: Ross Barkley underwent a medical at Chelsea before walking out midway through and snubbing a move at the 11th hour.

Barkley looked set to join the Blues ahead of Tottenham after they had an offer accepted by Everton.

He came down to London, headed to Surrey then U-turned and is now staying at Goodison Park.

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson said: “I'm lost for words. You're going to the champions, he's going to play with Hazard, Willian, and he's going to play!

“They haven't got the biggest squad. I'd like to hear the full story, but I'm shocked."

Chelsea are now set to sign Danny Drinkwater to further bolster their midfield ranks.

Gomes to Tottenham OFF

22:23: Andre Gomes is not leaving Barcelona despite interest from West Ham and Tottenham.

The Premier League duo had tried to lure the midfielder away from the Nou Camp before the 11pm deadline.

But now it appears the Portugal international is staying put.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague tweeted: “I have been told by @HelenaCondis that Andre Gomes will not leave Barcelona in this transfer window. West Ham and Spurs tried it.”

The 24-year-old has been offered a way out by Barcelona, who want to trim their squad.

While Spurs were keen on a permanent deal, West Ham had been interested in a loan move.

Gomes made 17 La Liga starts for Barca last season after a move from Valencia but he struggled to hit it off in Spain.

The Spanish transfer window shuts at 11pm tonight.

Diego Costa latest

22:10: Diego Costa could seal his transfer to Atletico Madrid tomorrow despite the window closing at 11pm in England.

Costa remains desperate to seal a move to Atletico and is yet to return to Chelsea this summer.

Costa was told his Chelsea career was over by Antonio Conte at the start of the summer.

Conte text him to tell him he was no longer part of his plans while he was on holiday and Costa was on international duty.

Costa has since remained in Brazil while angling for a transfer.

But with the transfer deadline approaching he remains a Chelsea player.

But, even if a deal doesn’t make it over the line before 11pm, Atletico could do a move tomorrow with the Spanish window open until midnight on Friday.

That puts Atletico under less pressure to find an agreement with Chelsea over the next couple of hours.

Bellerin to Juventus snubbed

22:02: Arsenal snubbed a late bid from Juventus to sign Hector Bellerin on deadline day.

Arsenal have endured a frustrating transfer window after signing just two players all summer.

According to the claims, Juventus made a £36.8million (€40m) bid for Bellerin this afternoon.

Juve are seeking a right-back after losing Dani Alves to PSG earlier this summer.

Ikeme's deadline joke

22:00: Wolves keeper Carl Ikeme found the time to make a joke on deadline day amid his battle with acute leukaemia.

The 31-year-old started treatment last month after being diagnosed with the disease during pre-season training.

But he was still able to laugh on deadline day, tweeting a picture of himself in his hospital bed.

Ikeme wrote: "BREAKING NEWS. Ikeme transfers from one room to another! Medical under way".

Wolves have retained Ikeme in their number one shirt this season and fans, players and oppositions are paying tribute to him at regular intervals.

Drinkwater arrives for medical

21:50: Danny Drinkwater has arrived at Chelsea’s Cobham training facility to under his medical.

Express Sport understands Leicester and Chelsea have agreed a £35million fee for the Premier League-winning midfielder, who should sign on the dotted line before the 11pm deadline.

Done Deal: Joel Campbell rejoins Real Betis on loan

21:45: Real Betis have re-signed Arsenal striker Joel Campbell on a season-long loan deal.

The Costa Rica international enjoyed a successful loan spell with the Spanish club in 2012/13, making 28 appearances and scoring two goals.

Reports earlier this week claimed Campbell didn’t want to spend another temporary spell away from the Emirates.

But it appears he’s changed his mind.

Llorente was ‘definitely’ joining Chelsea - Shay Given

21:40: Fernando Llorente was set to join Chelsea from Swansea ahead of London rivals Tottenham, according to former Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given.

Llorente is to complete a move to Tottenham imminently and has been pictured in a Spurs shirt.

Chelsea were the side who showed initial interest in the Swansea frontman, with their pursuit starting in the January transfer window.

However, Tottenham snuck in ahead of the champions and agreed a fee for the Spaniard this morning, with a medical taking place today.

Given was adamant Llorente would join Chelsea and says Conte will be annoyed the deal has not gone through.

“Another one that surprised me was Llorente,” Given said on Sky Sports.

“He has gone to Tottenham of course and I thought he would definitely go to Chelsea. Conte worked with him at Juventus before, I thought that was a perfect match for him to go there, but he’s chosen Tottenham.

“I don’t think Conte will be overly happy with that one either.”

Done Deal: Chelsea sell Mars

21:35: Chelsea have sold Malakai Mars to Barnet for an undisclosed fee.

Forward Mars was a regular in Chelsea’s youth side and was expected to play in the UEFA Youth League this season.

But he has secured a deadline day transfer to Barnet.

Mars, 18, started off at Barnet before moving to Chelsea in 2014.

Mars said: “It’s great to be home. Wow, it’s great to be home!”

Sanchez to Man City was a done deal - Adam

21:25: Stoke midfielder Charlie Adam claims he heard Alexis Sanchez’s proposed move to Manchester City from Arsenal was done THREE WEEKS ago.

Sanchez was desperate to leave Arsenal but after the deal falling through, he says he must do his talking on the pitch.

“I heard three weeks ago that the deal was done, completed,” Adam said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“Agreed, finances, everything was agreed. All they had to agree was the fee between Arsenal and Man City. I heard that three weeks ago.

“He has a week now to get his head around it before he gets back to Arsenal after the internationals. There’s nothing else he can do.”

Zappacosta medical underway

21:20: Torino right-back Diego Zappacosta’s medical is underway, reports claim.

Italian website Football Italia claim the defender has arrived in West London, and is going through a rigorous fitness test as we speak.

Chelsea are keen to sign Zappacosta before the 11pm transfer window, and will pay £23million for his signature.

Deal agreed: Eagles to sign Niasse

21:15: Crystal Palace have agreed a fee with Everton for Oumar Niasse.

The striker has struggled to establish himself at the Toffees ever since his £13.5m move from Lokomotiv Moscow 18 months ago.

He now seems to be on the move to Selhurst Park where Frank de Boer’s side have suffered a dreadful start of the season in the Premier League.

Mahrez pursuit over

21:11: Chelsea are no longer pursuing a deal for Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez.

That’s according to Telegraph journalist Matt Law who has claimed a switch to Stamford Bridge is not on the cards.

“I’ve been asked about this a lot and I'm really hoping it doesn't backfire on me but told Chelsea are not pursuing any deal for Riyad Mahrez,” Law tweeted.

“That, of course, is the current state of play re Mahrez and everything is open to change on deadline day/evening.”

Done Deal: Kent joins Freiburg

21:10: Liverpool have sent Ryan Kent to Freiburg in a late transfer on deadline day.

Freiburg have confirmed Kent will play for the German side on loan for the season.

"It was not clear for a long time whether Liverpool would let him go at all,” said Freiburg sorting director Klemens Hartenbach.

“This door has been opened again for us in the last few days.”

Done Deal: Douglas joins Benfica

21:05: Barcelona have sent defender Douglas on loan to Benfica for the season.

The 27-year-old heads to Benfica after being told he has no future under Barca manager Ernesto Valverde.

“Douglas signed a one-year contract with Benfica and arrives on loan from Barcelona,” a brief statement read on Benfica’s website.

Barca’s deal does not include an option to buy Douglas at the end of the season.

Tense Coutinho wait…

21:02: Philippe Coutinho’s move to Barcelona could go through tomorrow despite the transfer window in England shutting at 11pm tonight.

Barcelona remain hopeful of signing Coutinho and are ready to pay around £148m to bring him to the Nom Camp.

And, even if a deal doesn’t make it over the line before 11pm, Barcelona could do a deal tomorrow with the Spanish window open until midnight on Friday.

That puts Barca under less pressure to find an agreement with Liverpool over the next couple of hours.

Ornstein: Thomas Lemar told Arsenal he'd join

21:00: Thomas Lemar told Arsenal this summer that he wanted to join them, BBC reporter David Ornstein claims.

“Perhaps it’s quite confusing to a player who was being chased by Arsenal in the summer and it’s our understanding that he did say he would join Arsenal,” Ornstein said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“He was prepared to make the move. But when that interest ended, it was almost like it was put to bed. And on the final day of the window, you’re possibly back on.

“So, how does that affect your mindset as a player?”

Fernando Llorente pictured in Spurs kit for first time

20:50: Pictures have emerged of Spanish striker Fernando Llorente, 32, wearing a Spurs strip and giving the thumbs-up this evening.

His £15million move to Spurs is set to go through after he snubbed interest from Chelsea.

Swansea have had a £12million bid for their former striker Wilfried Bony accepted by Manchester City as they bid to replace him.

Bony is undergoing a Swansea medical and complete a return to the club he left for £28m in January 2015.

Leicester double deal

20:45: Leicester are in talks to sign Sporting Lisbon star Adrien Silva.

John Percy, Midlands football reporter for the Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph, claims the midfielder has flown to England to discuss a potential deal.

However, the deal will only go through if Danny Drinkwater joins Chelsea in the coming hours, but they STILL haven’t met Leicester’s valuation.

Matt Law of The Telegraph adds that Craig Shakespeare’s side are close to an agreement to sign long-term target Aleksandar Dragovic from Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan.

Barkley rejects Chelsea

20:40: Ross Barkley has rejected a move to Chelsea, according to BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein.

The talented midfielder was expected to swap Goodison Park for Stamford Bridge after refusing to sign a new contract.

But it appears Barkley doesn’t want to join the Premier League champions and could instead try to fight his way back into Ronald Koeman’s plans.

Ornstein said on BBC Radio Five Live: “I don’t mean to be the bearing of more bad news for Chelsea.

“But Barkley has turned down a move to Chelsea tonight. Not official. Don’t know whether that opens the way for a move to Tottenham or to stay at Everton.

“But the information I’m receiving is that he has rejected Chelsea.”

FAKE, FAKE, FAKE!

20:30: A fake Twitter account has duped thousands of users into thinking Philippe Coutinho has signed for Barcelona.

A user named @1996javi changed his account to mirror that of Barcelona today.

The account is already verified - the blue tick appears, at first glance, to give it extra credence - while the username is FC Barcelona.

They tweeted a picture of Coutinho with the text: “Welcome Coutinho #BeBarca.”

Alongside it they welcomed Coutinho to the club in a number of different languages.

It read: “Benvingut @Phil_Coutinho ! ¡Bienvenido Coutinho! Welcome Coutinho!  Bienvenue Coutinho! #BeBarça.”

Fans rushed to retweet it but the eagle-eyed ones on Twitter noticed something was awry.

Arsenal fans won’t believe Arsene Wenger

20:25: Arsenal fans won’t believe Arsene Wenger made a £90million bid for Thomas Lemar, says Alex McLeish.

Arsenal are thought to have launched a very late offer for Lemar which was accepted by Monaco.

But former Aston Villa boss McLeish has questioned whether Arsenal fans will really believe Wenger would have paid the inflated fees required to sign Lemar.

“I don’t think Arsenal fans would accept that they went for Lemar at that kind of price,” McLeish said on talkSPORT.

“I think they would be looking for another name for that kind of money.”

Done Deal: Toffees sign Nikola Vlasic

20:15: Everton have completed the signing of Nikola Vlasic from Hajduk Split.

The striker has been pictured putting pen to paper on his Everton contract and becomes the club's ninth summer signing.

He joins for around £8m as Ronald Koeman finally lands the striker to replace Romelu Lukaku.

He is understood to have signed a five-year deal and completes Koeman's huge summer overhaul.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to play for this big club,” said the Croatia international.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world and this is one of the top clubs in England. It is such a big honour for me to be here.”

Barkley to West Ham is 10x more likely

20:05: Paddy Power have taken a series of bets on Ross Barkley joining West Ham this evening – prompting the bookmaker to slash odds on the move from 50/1 to 5/1.

The out-of-favour Everton playmaker had been linked with Chelsea and Tottenham but, given his contract stalemate at Goodison Park, may find regular football at West Ham enticing in a World Cup season.

Last-gasp Marcos Llorente swoop

20:00: Real Madrid star Marcos Llorente has an offer from Chelsea, according to surprise reports in Spain.

Llorente is surplus to requirements at Real Madrid under boss Zinedine Zidane.

Antonio Conte is desperate for signings at Chelsea before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline having missed out on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool.

And Spanish website Diario Gol say Chelsea have made a move for Llorente, who wants to leave the Bernabeu before the deadline passes.

VVD going nowhere

19:55: The summer’s longest-running transfer saga is almost over.

Sky Sports claim Southampton centre-back Virgil van Dijk will NOT be leaving Southampton for Liverpool.

Coutinho fears Liverpool are reneging on £148m deal

19:45: Philippe Coutinho reportedly fears he’ll be made to stay at Liverpool against his will.

Reports earlier this week claimed Barcelona had finally reached an agreement with Liverpool for a £148.5million (160m euros) transfer.

And it was claimed an announcement was being delayed until Liverpool signed a replacement for Coutinho.

Yet a £40million deal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was confirmed today and there has been no movement in the Coutinho transfer saga.

And according to Yahoo Sport, Coutinho’s representatives are “extremely anxious” about Liverpool forcing the Brazilian to remain at the club.

A source is quoted as saying: “Liverpool are not respecting the agreement they made.”

Done Deal: Birmingham sign Jota

19:41: Birmingham have signed Spanish winger Jota from Brentford for £6million.

The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at St Andrew's, arriving for a sum that eclipses the £6million Blues paid Valencia for Nikola Zigic.

He makes the same move less than 24 hours after defender Harlee Dean also swapped Griffin Park for Birmingham.

"We are all sorry to see Jota leave," Brentford head coach Dean Smith told the club's official website.

"He had an extremely productive period for us last season when he returned from his loan spell with Eibar. It was a pleasure to work with him and be involved with some of the special performances he produced - the goal against QPR quickly comes to mind.

19:40: Wilfried Bony is currently undergoing a medical in South Wales ahead of his return to Swansea from Manchester City.

"Lucas returns to Deportivo, where he enjoyed a prolific campaign in 2015-16, equalling a club record for goals scored in successive games.

"The 28 year-old has netted a total of seven times for the club in 21 appearances to date. We all wish Lucas well for his time with Deportivo this coming season."

Medical for Sakho

19:00: Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is undergoing a medical at Crystal Palace after they had a £26million bid accepted.

The France defender spent the second half of last season on loan at Selhurst Park having fallen out of favour with manager Jurgen Klopp over a number of disciplinary issues last summer, and a return south was always the player's preferred option.

Liverpool had been holding out for £30m but after turning down £22m plus £3m in add-ons yesterday - Palace's third offer - the Reds decided to cut their losses on a player whom they have been trying to offload for a year.

The Algeria international was released from international duty today and headed to Paris in order to complete a move away from the King Power Stadium.

Sanchez thought he was joining City

18:20 Alexis Sanchez thought he was leaving to join Manchester City, according to Guillem Balague.

Balague tweeted: “As it stands, Arsenal pull out of Lemar negotiations. So Alexis, much to his pain, stays. Will there be more twists? #DeadlineDay

“1. What a situation. Alexis thought he was leaving as City/AFC reached a deal (£55+5). It will be very hard to bring him round.

“2. At this stage City not willing to add a £ to the deal agreed with AFC. AFC not told them yet they not selling Alexis. Would you keep him?”

The Algeria international was released from national duty today and headed to Paris in order to complete a deal.

He is now expected to have a medical.

Chelsea hopeful of double deal

18.00: Chelsea remain hopeful of securing late deals for Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley - but time is running out before tonight’s deadline.

Chelsea have lodged a third bid for Drinkwater and believe they can get a deal done in time.

The third offer comes closer to Leicester’s valuation and the clubs remain in talks over the transfer.

Leicester have snubbed the previous two bids but look likely to cave in the coming hours.

And the Blues are also hopeful of signing Barkley but are less confident of striking a deal before 11pm tonight.

Leeds sign another forward

17:42: Leeds United have signed Pierre-Michel Lasogga on loan from Hamburger SV.

Lasogga, 25, becomes the second arrival at Elland Road on deadline day, following Pawel Cibicki to West Yorkshire.

The forward will remain at Leeds until the end of the season.

He becomes new manager Thomas Christiansen’s 16th summer signing.

Done Deal: Nani joins Lazio

17:41: Portugal winger Nani has joined Lazio on loan from Valencia.

Valencia said the Cape Verde-born player would be loaned for one year and Lazio would have an option for the Serie A side to buy at the end of that period.

Nani was at Manchester United for eight seasons and has since spent one season each at Sporting, Fenerbahce and Valencia.

The 30-year-old has made 112 appearances for Portugal scoring 24 goals.

Perez heading home

17:40: If we could step away from the Thomas Lemar drama for a moment…

Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague has hinted that Arsenal will part with Lucas Perez before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Newcastle and Everton were both linked with the attacking star but it’s Deportivo La Coruna, who look to have won the battle.

He tweeted: “The cost for @RCDeportivo for Lucas Perez loan is €4m. He needs to recover some confidence. Better player that he has shown at Arsenal.”

Kent could be off

Jurgen Klopp wants the youngster to gain first-team experience and doesn’t think he will get enough at Anfield this season.

Zappacosta for £25m? Torino will be laughing - Horncastle

17:25: Torino will be laughing at Chelsea’s willingness to pay £25million for Davide Zappacosta, according to European football expert James Horncastle.

The 25-year old is said to have agreed a move to Stamford Bridge for where he will link up again with Antonio Conte.

Conte was in charge on Italy when he gave Zappacosta his international debut.

But Horncastle thinks Chelsea are paying over the odds for the wing-back.

“Conte was the first manager to call Zappacosta up to the Italy squad,” he told talkSPORT.

“He’s a wing-back but has lost his place at Torino int he last season because the manager has gone to a back four.

“Zappacosta is an OK player but for €25m (£23m), Torino to some extent are laughing all the way to the bank.”

Sanchez STAYS, Lemar deal OFF

17:15: This is getting ridiculous now.

Arsenal are sensationally set to retain Alexis Sanchez after failing to agree a fee with Monaco for Thomas Lemar.

Manchester City have been trying all day to get a deal for Sanchez over the line.

Arsenal have even been preparing for his departure by attempting to land Monaco winger Thomas Lemar.

But the Guardian say a move from the Emirates to the Etihad is now OFF for Sanchez.

In a stunning turn of events, it is said that Arsenal will now retain the Chile international after talks over a move for Lemar broke down.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague added: “As it stands, Arsenal pull out of Lemar negotiations. So Alexis, much to his pain, stays.”

United activity… finally!

17:05: Manchester United are edging closer to signing Barcelona ace Sergi Roberto, according to the bookies.

The Red Devils have had a pretty quiet transfer deadline day having conducted their business earlier in the summer.

But that could be about to change.

BetStars Director of Trading Ian Marmion said: “As the transfer window edges closer to its deadline, Manchester United could continue their summer splurge by adding a few more big-name signings to their ranks before the clock strikes 11pm.

“Sergi Roberto’s versatility to operate as a midfielder and defender has caught the interest of Jose Mourinho and the Barcelona player is priced at 17/20 to complete a move to Old Trafford today.

“United have also been heavily linked with Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic throughout the summer window and the Red Devils are valued at 5/1 to make a late dash for the Croatian winger.

“Danny Rose has been hovering near the Spurs exit door this summer and is priced at 13/5 to become the latest Tottenham wingback to make a move to Manchester before the end of the window.”

Eagles eye Tosun

17:00: Crystal Palace are locked in talks with Besiktas over signing Cenk Tosun.

The Eagles rate the striker at £10m and early indications show that a move is definitely on.

The 26-year-old scored 24 goals last season for Besiktas.

One potential snag is that Newcastle have also made an enquiry but have yet to submit a formal bid.

Spurs close to Gomes signing

16:55: Tottenham are on the verge of signing Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes.

Daily Mail reporter Dominic King tweeted: “Andre Gomes to Spurs almost done. Mauricio Pochettino's influence has been crucial. Gomes had been keen on West Ham to link with Jose Fonte.”

16:35: Stoke's record signing Giannelli Imbula has joined Toulouse on loan for the rest of the season.

Imbula moved to the Potters for £18.3million from Porto at the end of last year's January transfer window but has failed to live up to expectations.

He made only 12 starts in the Premier League last term and was yet to make an appearance under Mark Hughes this season.

The 24-year-old has a contract with Stoke until 2021 but will spend the rest of the campaign at Ligue 1 Toulouse in the hope of rediscovering his form.

Barca are a laughing stock - Perez

16:30: Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez is said to be ‘laughing’ at Barcelona’s expected deal for Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.

Barcelona look to be closing in on Coutinho after weeks of haggling with Liverpool over a fee.

Reports are saying the Brazil international is on his way to the Nou Camp for a huge £148million in a transfer that will make him the second most-expensive player of all time.

And Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim Real Madrid are laughing at the amount spent on the 25-year-old.

It is said club president Florentino Perez finds the amount being paid for the player makes Barcelona the laughing stock of Europe.

Perez is also said to be sniffing at the fact he flopped at Espanyol during a loan spell in the 2011/2012 season.

And Diario Gol add they even see him as the ‘next Andre Gomes’.

Gomes struggled for Barcelona after arriving from fellow La Liga side Valencia 12 months ago.

And, a year on, he looks to be closing in on a move away.

£92million Thomas Lemar bid

16:15: Arsenal have submitted a £92million deal for Monaco superstar Thomas Lemar.

Sky Sports claim the Gunners haven’t responded to Manchester City’s £55m bid for Alexis Sanchez because they’re busy trying to secure his replacement.

It’s understood that Monaco are ‘softening’ to the idea of selling their talented Frenchman having previously refused to do business.

However, if the Ligue 1 champions snub the offer, Arsenal won’t sell Sanchez.

Lemar is due to play for France this evening in a crucial World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands.

Spurs hijack Gomes swoop

16:10: Fresh from spoiling Chelsea’s efforts to sign Swansea star Fernando Llorente, Tottenham are doing the same to West Ham.

The Hammers were thought to be in the driving seat in the battle to sign Barcelona’s Andre Gomes.

But Sky Sports claim Spurs are now considering a move for the Portuguese international.

It’s believed Gomes would be an alternative to Ross Barkley, who only has Chelsea chasing his signature now.

Done Deal: Djilobodji joins Dijon

Earlier, Black Cats goalkeeper Max Stryjek joined League Two's Accrington on a season-long loan.

Alexis Sanchez in Man City shirt? Nope…

16:00: Alexis Sanchez has been pictured in a Manchester City shirt… or has he?

Manchester City want to sign Sanchez ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

The Chile international today ‘liked’ a tweet of a fan singing him a song convincing him to stay at Arsenal.

But Sanchez could be on his way to Manchester City with pictures doing the rounds on Twitter on him in their light blue kit.

Sanchez is currently with Chile ahead of his national side's 2018 World Cup qualifying games against Paraguay and Bolivia.

The blurry picture appears to show Sanchez wearing this season’s Manchester City kit in front of a green screen.

However, eagle-eyed fans have spotted a tattoo on his left arm, something Sanchez does not have.

The inking is very similar to that of current City star Leroy Sane, leading fans to suggest that the original image has been doctored.

Lemar no longer 50/50

15:50: Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar is now odds-on (4/6) to join Arsenal today, according to bookmaker Paddy Power.

It seems that the Gunners are finally ready to let Alexis Sanchez leave, with the Chilean now a very short price (1/5) to join Man City before the close of the deadline day window.

German playmaker Julian Draxler, who PSG are keen to sell, is an alternative option (5/4), but Arsene Wenger appears to have prioritised signing his compatriot.

Trio chase Markovic

15:45: Three Premier League clubs are chasing Liverpool’s Lazar Markovic.

The winger is yet to feature for Liverpool this season and having spent last season on loan he could be set to leave once again this term.

TalkSPORT journalist Geoff Peters claims Brighton have made an enquiry for the Serbian but the Seagulls face competition from Watford and Crystal Palace.

Peters tweeted: “Brighton have made an enquiry about signing Lazar Markovic on loan from Liverpool. Watford and Palace also interested.”

The 23-year-old has been tipped to join Watford on loan in recent days with the clubs in talks.

Wenger spotted in Paris!

15:30: Now this is classic deadline day news.

Arsene Wenger has been spotted in Paris, and that’s sending Twitter into absolute meltdown.

Many are questioning why the Frenchman is there with some suspecting he’s there to conclude a deal for Thomas Lemar.

However, I think it’s far more likely Wenger’s in Paris to watch tonight’s World Cup qualifier between France and Holland…

Fact File: Davide Zappacosta

15:15: Chelsea have launched a £23million bid for Davide Zappacosta - but who is he?

Zappacosta is an Italian full-back who has a good eye for going forward.

And that is what Antonio Conte wants.

He joined Torino in 2015 for around £8m - a big move for the Turin side.

He impressed during his debut season and played 29 games for the club last term, while also representing Italy during World Cup qualifiers.

He is by no means an Italy first XI regular but is highly thought of.

Born in the Lazio area of Roma, Zappacosta got his big break when moving to Atalanta from Avellino in 2011 for just £50,000.

Zappacosta made his Italy debut last year.

United favourites for Willian

15:10: Manchester United have emerged as favourites with the bookies to sign Chelsea winger Willian.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has enjoyed an impressive transfer window so far but is still keen to add another wide man to his ranks.

Reports today suggest United are considering a deadline day move for Chelsea winger Willian, having shown an interest in the Brazilian earlier in the window.

And bookmakers Betfair have responded by pricing the Red Devils as 5/1 favourites to sign Willian before tonight’s deadline.

Barkley medical woe

15:05: Chelsea and Tottenham’s hopes of signing Everton star Ross Barkley could be in tatters.

The London duo are known to be interested in the wantaway midfielder, who refused to sign a new contract at Goodison Park.

Barkley, 23, is currently sidelined with a groin injury, but his absence could be more serious than initially thought.

Sky Sports claim Barkley’s injury problems are severe and has a high chance of failing a medical.

Done Deal: Wolfsburg sign Divock Origi

15:00: Divock has joined Wolfsburg on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool.

The Bundesliga side will pay the Reds a loan fee of around £6m as well as funding the Belgium striker’s wages in full.

Liverpool have allowed the former Lille forward leave to gain first-team football.

Origi, 22, would have had limited chances to play at Anfield this season following the arrival of Mohamed Salah.

The Belgium international is already behind Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge in the No 9 role for the Reds.

While the arrival of Salah means there is also more competition on the flanks.

Done Deal: Burnley sign Nahki Wells

14:55: Burnley have completed the signing of Huddersfield striker Nahki Wells on a three-year contract, for an undisclosed fee.

“I have no doubt this is an ideal move for me,” said Wells.

“I have played at every level besides the Premier League. I achieved that by getting promoted (with Huddersfield) and it wasn’t something that was going to change. I have always wanted to play there.

“I’ve documented that way back, when I first broke into the game.

“Now the opportunity is here and I’m very thankful to the football club to give it to me. I feel I can go on and do great things.”

Thompson: Sign Lemar if Coutinho leaves

14:50: Liverpool should challenge Arsenal for Thomas Lemar’s signature if Philippe Coutinho leaves, according to Phil Thompson.

Thompson told Sky Sports: “The club have always maintained the stance that Philippe Coutinho’s going nowhere and quite right because they didn’t have enough time to get somebody in of a similar quality.

“Is anybody as good as Coutinho at the moment? Thomas Lemar fits that bill.

“He’s left-sided, very skilful, more offensive and quick. All of those qualities fit Jurgen Klopp’s bill. If Lemar was to come in, Liverpool would allow Coutinho to go. If Lemar doesn’t come, then Coutinho stays at least for 12 months.”

Klopp: Ox can reach his full potential

14:45: Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp believes Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can finally reach his full potential.

The deal, for a reported £40million, will give the England international a chance to finally define a role for himself after six years in various positions for Arsenal.

"I hear a lot of talk about positions but let's talk about the player," Klopp told Liverpool's website.

"He is someone with really good abilities who always gives everything for his team. A player that is positive and willing to take risks to try and make positive things happen.

"Already he is a very good player and I think he has the mentality and desire to get even better - that excites me."

Mahrez joining Chelsea

14:40: Here we go again! There’s been another twist in the never-ending saga involving Riyad Mahrez.

Mahrez will complete a deadline day to move to Chelsea - despite pressure from those close to him to join Arsenal.

A source close to the Leicester playmaker has told Express Sport that a move to London is favoured by his family.

He will definitely not be joining Barcelona because Mahrez’s family don’t want to up sticks.

Arsenal would be the preferred option and there’s pressure on Mahrez to move to the Emirates.

But the Gunners’ interest has waned - they are instead chasing Thomas Lemar - meaning Mahrez has settled on a move to Stamford Bridge.

A source said: “One thing’s for sure, Riyad won’t be joining Barcelona. There’s no way he’ll move to Spain.

“There’s pressure on him to join Arsenal and it’s seen as a move that would work well. But at the minute it appears he will end up in London - although at Chelsea instead.”

Harry’s after Jack

14:25: Birmingham are looking to sign Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere, reports claim.

According to Sky Sports, Harry Redknapp is trying to capitalise on Arsenal’s surplus of midfielders by promising Wilshere regular first-team football.

The 25-year-old playmaker has been on loan at Bournemouth and West Ham are also believed to be interested in taking him.

Wilshere’s career has been hampered by injuries but Redknapp believes a spell at Brum would be ideal to get him back on track.

Zappacosta flying to London

14:20: Chelsea might get a deal done after all.

Reports in Italy claim the Premier League champions are close to signing Torino full-back Davide Zappacosta in a transfer worth £23million.

It’s believed the 25-year-old will fly to London today, and sign a four-year deal with Antonio Conte’s side.

Antonio Conte wants competition at right-wing back, having failed to secure a deal for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Done Deal: Swansea sign Renato Sanches

14:10: Portugal midfielder Renato Sanches has joined Swansea on a season-long loan from Bayern Munich.

A statement on the club's website says: "Sanches has completed the necessary paperwork while away with Portugal, and will link up with his new team-mates upon his return from international duty.

"Swans boss Paul Clement worked with the 20-year-old midfielder during his six-month stint as assistant manager at the Allianz Arena last year before his switch to the Liberty."

His arrival further bolsters Paul Clement’s options in midfield, which has been boosted by the recent signing of Sam Clucas from Hull City.

Lemar deal possible

14:05: Arsenal could still land Thomas Lemar from Monaco this summer, according to French football expert Julian Laurens.

Arsenal are trying to sign the France star as Alexis Sanchez edges closer to a move to Manchester City.

City have bid £55m plus £5m in add ons for the Chile star but Arsenal will only sell if they can secure a replacement.

And Laurens thinks it could be Lemar but says they’d need to pay around £78m.

“Yes, I think so,” Laurens said on talkSPORT when asked if Arsenal could get their man.

“If Arsenal put a lot of money down on the table, it’s a player that they’ve chased all summer, that Arsene Wenger absolutely loves. Now he would probably have to pay 80-85million euros.”

14:00: Borussia Dortmund have agreed a deal with Manchester City for the permanent transfer of Jadon Sancho.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Red Bull Leipzig were among the clubs monitoring Sancho’s situation.

But the teenage prodigy’s future lies with the Bundesliga outfit.

City agree Bony sale

13:55: Manchester City have accepted a bid of £12m from Swansea for Wilfried Bony.

City boss Pep Guardiola has been desperate to off load him since he took charge at the Etihad.

Bony joined City from the Swans in a £28m deal in 2015.

But the move proved a disaster as he struggled to make an impact and Etihad bosses have decided to cut their losses.

Saints have a real problem - Hinchcliffe

13:50: Southampton have a problem with Virgil van Dijk because the player is still desperate to leave the club, Andy Hinchcliffe claims.

Van Dijk is keen on moving to Liverpool, who have been after the Dutchman throughout the summer.

He has handed in an official transfer request, voicing his displeasure to being forced to stay at Southampton.

However, Saints are refusing to change their stance and seem content to keep an unhappy player at the club.

Hinchcliffe thinks that will be an issue for Southampton going forward.

“The problem they have is Van Dijk wants to leave,” Hinchcliffe said on Sky Sports.

“No matter how important he is, how good he is, and he is a fabulous centre-half. If he’s unhappy in that dressing room and he really wants to go, you do have a problem.

“Southampton clearly want to keep him for the right reasons, he’s a great player. If they want to develop the defensive side of their game, you’re not going to sell a player like this. If he wants to go then it can cause a problem.”

Barca don't want Mahrez

13:50: Chelsea haven’t bid for Riyad Mahrez, Manchester United won’t submit an offer, and now Barcelona have distanced themselves from the Algeria international. Poor guy.

Mahrez, a key figure in Leicester's surprise title triumph, has been allowed to leave the Algeria squad and return to Europe to "formalise his transfer to his new club", the Algerian Football Federation announced.

But Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague‏ say Barca aren’t interested.

He tweeted: “Barca say they not interested in Mahrez. That kills that one then.”

Chelsea rejected... again

13:45: Antonio Conte just can’t catch a break!

He’s already seen Fernando Llorente and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlian slip through his fingers, and now another has joined the growing list.

Sky Sports claim Chelsea have had a bid rejected by Bayern Munich for right-back Rafinha.

Done Deal: Watford sign Karnezis

13:40: Watford have announced the signing of goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis on a season-long loan from Udinese.

The 32-year-old Greece international will join up with Marco Silva's squad on his return from international duty, and challenge Heurelho Gomes for a starting berth.

City submit second Sanchez bid, Arsenal want Lemar

13:30: There’s a major deal in the pipeline, according to Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague.

Balague claims Manchester City have made a second offer of £55million plus a further £5m in performance-related add-ons.

It’s believed that Arsenal have asked for more time locate a replacement in the shape of Monaco superstar Thomas Lemar.

Balague tweeted: “Alexis close to sign for City for £55m + £5m. Arsenal asked for few hours to sign Thomas Lemar, which they confident they are going to do.”

Willian wanted at Old Trafford

13:20: Jose Mourinho has made an audacious last gasp bid to land Willian from Chelsea.

It would be the second player Manchester United boss Mourinho has plundered from his old club after landing Nemanja Matic in a £40million deal.

It would see Mourinho reunited with another of the key figures from his 2014-15 title winning side at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho always said he had four targets this season and had completed the transfer of three with striker Romelu Lukaku, defender Victor Lindelof and defensive midfielder Matic.

He is likely to cost in the region of £35million having joined Chelsea for £30million from Russian side Anzi Makhachkala back in August 2013.

Initially Mourinho had been chasing Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan to fill a role wide right but kept hitting a brick wall in his bid to land him.

It would be another incredible coup for Mourinho if he were to get Willian.

Diafra Sakho wants out

12:50: West Ham wantaway Diafra Sakho has begged the club to allow him to leave.

He told Sky Sports: "I have had a frustrating time for the past couple of seasons. I want a fresh start and I want to get back to playing regular football

"I have got no issues with West Ham or West Ham fans. This is purely a footballing decision. I want to go back to France."

Another done deal?

12:46: Fernando Llorente is now a Tottenham player, according to Sky Sports expert Guillem Balague.

Spurs have had a £15million bid accepted for the Swansea striker, who had been expected to join Chelsea.

Chelsea came back with a subsequent bid but it appears that came too late.

Balague tweeted this afternoon: “All done. @fernandollo is a Spurs player. 2 years (plus one) and around £12m #TransferDeadline.”

The Swans will replace Llorente with Manchester City striker Wilfred Bony, who left the club in 2015.

The arrival of Llorente could mean Dutch forward Vincent Janssen will leave the club on loan.

DONE DEAL: SPURS SIGN AURIER

12:45: Tottenham have announced the signing of Ivory Coast full-back Serge Aurier from Paris St-Germain.

The defender has signed a contract with the Club until 2022 and will wear the number 24 shirt.

Serge said: “This is a huge and exciting opportunity at a massive football club and I am determined to prove myself as a professional both on and off the pitch.

“This is a fresh start for me and I will do everything to make the Spurs fanbase, which is huge and diverse, proud of me. The fans are the most important people at any club and I am looking forward to showing them and everyone at Spurs the real Serge Aurier.”

Coutinho announcement tonight!

12:40: There’s major claims that Philippe Coutinho is heading to Barcelona in stunning £138m deal.

Everton making waves

12:30: There’s a couple of things happening at Everton today.

The Toffees have made a season-long loan enquiry for Arsenal outcast Lucas Perez.

Sky Sports claim Arsenal don’t want to sell to a rival club, while Perez himself would prefer to return to Spain with Deportivo de La Coruna.

Meanwhile the Daily Mail claim Nikola Vlasic is having medical at Finch Farm right now ahead of £8million move from Hajduk Split.

Parlour offers thoughts on AOC move

12:20: Ray Parlour has given his opinion of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s move to Liverpool.

The Arsenal legend thinks Oxlade-Chamberlain’s dad was a big influence on the move, as was the promise of a central midfield role.

He said: “He only just made his mind up, simple. He thinks he needs to further his career. His dad has probably been a big influence as well. He was a football player himself and said ‘look son this is on the table’.

“He had the opportunity to go to Chelsea, where he would have been a wing back. He’d have competition with Victor Moses  at right wing-back.

“Maybe he’s met the representatives and then the people at Liverpool and told you’re going to be central midfield. Four at the back, thee in midfield and you’ll be in that three. Maybe that’s the reason he’s chosen Liverpool over Chelsea.”

OX signs, more to follow…

12:15: Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in a £40million deal.

And Virgil van Dijk and Thomas Lemar could follow him on a dramatic deadline day at Anfield.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has signed a five-year contract to join the club he supported as a boy, having rejected the chance to move to Chelsea.

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp could yet make further signings before tonight's transfer deadline, as they continue to hold talks with Monaco in an attempt to secure a £75m deal for French forward Lemar.

They have not given up hope either of signing Van Dijk, though they acknowledge that it would take a significant shift in Southampton's stance for the £70m-valued centre-back to move to Anfield.

Oxlade-Chamberlain: I’m delighted to have signed

12:10: In a message to Reds fans after sealing the move, Oxlade-Chamberlain said: “I’m currently away with England, so I’m at St George’s Park.

“Firstly, I’m delighted to have signed for Liverpool and a big thank-you to everyone here at the FA that has made this possible, using the facilities. It has been a massive help.

“I’m not going to say too much today. I’m here with England and we’ve got two big games coming up, so I want to focus on them. But I can’t wait to get to Melwood.”

DONE DEAL: LIVERPOOL SIGN OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN

No Chelsea bid for Mahrez

12:00: Well would you look at that!

Leicester have responded to claims that Chelsea are trying to sign Riyad Mahrez before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

The Foxes say they’ve received NO bids for their Algeria international, who left the national side to resolve his future today.

Leicester say any claims of a Mahrez move to Stamford Bridge are false.

Could Manchester United be the mystery club he’s joining today?

Coutinho ready to beg

11:45: Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho will reportedly beg the Reds to let him join La Liga giants Barcelona.

The playmaker is currently with the Brazil squad at their Port Alegre base.

And he is supposedly keeping abreast of developments over in England Spain.

The Sun say he will approach Klopp himself and beg the German to let him seal his dream move to Barcelona.

Bizarre VVD story

11:43: Liverpool won’t sell a shirt with Virgil van Dijk’s name on - unless you prove your surname is Van Dijk!

We contacted Liverpool’s official club shop this morning to enquire whether there was any way Van Dijk shirts were for sale.

A helpful shop worker asked: “Is it officially signed off now?”

When we confirmed no deal had been confirmed, they added: “Okay, so we can’t print shirts with his name on until he’s actually signed.”

There was a way round it, though. If your name is Van Dijk the club WILL allow you to print shirts.

The worked added: “You’d need to fill out a shirt personalisation form and show that’s your surname.”

New Drinkwater bid

11:41: Chelsea have made new bid for Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater.

The Premier League champions have struggled in negotiations with Leicester, who value the England international at around £40million.

But The Telegraph journalist Matt Law claims Chelsea have returned with a new over worth over £30m, which would be £27m up front.

He tweeted: “Chelsea have made a new bid worth over £30m for Danny Drinkwater. Around £27m plus add-ons I'm told. Over to Leicester.”

Everton are not willing to let Niasse leave on a loan deal again.

Can bid in the pipeline

11:35: Liverpool can expect a £23m bid from Juventus today as the Italian side push to sign Emre Can before the transfer deadline.

Juve have been public in their interest in Can, with director Beppe Marotta expressing his desire to snap up the German.

The Serie A giants are willing to wait until January to discuss a free transfer with the midfielder at the end of the season.

But Italian newspaper La Stampa claim a final move to sign Can on a permanent deal this summer will be lodged before today’s 11pm transfer deadline.

VVD would normally leave - Smith

11:30: Liverpool transfer target Virgil van Dijk “would normally” leave Southampton due to the circumstances he is in at St Mary’s, according to former Arsenal striker Alan Smith.

Smith believes it is strange Saints have made Van Dijk train with the youngsters, especially if they want to re-integrate him into the squad.

“It’s a strange one because if you want to keep a player on side, you don’t make him train on his own,” Smith said on Sky Sports.

“He’s obviously unhappy, fed up at Southampton. Then they’ve got to bring him back into the first-team squad and get him onboard again which won’t be easy.

“I don’t know why he’s been made to train on his own. When that happens they normally go don’t they, they normally go.”

Spies everywhere…

11:25: Liverpool CEO Peter Moore has posted a funny picture from inside their deadline day boardroom.

Chief executive Moores has had a bit of fun this morning on what could prove a frantic day of business.

“I know everyone is interested in what is happening today, but this is becoming beyond ridiculous…” he tweeted.

The message was accompanied with a picture from what appeared to be a boardroom in Liverpool’s city centre of a window cleaner doing his work.

Bookies: Money suggests Chelsea move for Mahrez

11:20: Riyad Mahrez has been released from Algeria’s training to finalise a transfer today, but the problem is that nobody knows where to.

Well, bookmakers Paddy Power might have a clue – they’re reporting a flood of bets on a Chelsea switch for the Leicester playmaker.

Spokesman Lee Price said: “There’s been a stream of bets on Mahrez to Chelsea this morning, having previously attracted very little attention.

“As a result, our traders have had to slash the price from 7/1 to 4/1 on the move.”

No Dybala deal

11:15: Barcelona did not make a bid for Juventus hitman Paulo Dybala, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

Barcelona are aiming to tie up deals with the Spanish transfer window shutting tomorrow.

The Catalan giants have been pursuing marquee names following the departure of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.

Yesterday, reports suggested they had made a bid for Juventus’ Dybala.

But, speaking on his personal Twitter account, Balague insisted that news of a bid for the Argentina international was false.

“Offer that @CorSport mentioned of Barcelona for Dybala (€160) didn’t take place,” he said.

United fans despair

11:10: Manchester United fans are desperate for Jose Mourinho to seal deals for Riyad Mahrez and Alexis Sanchez today.

Manchester United have enjoyed a good start to the season, winning their first three Premier League games.

But it appears that, despite the signings of Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic, their fans want more.

Sanchez and Mahrez are being tipped to leave Arsenal and Leicester this afternoon.

And, after the Red Devils posted a tweet about sending Matty Willock to Utrecht this morning, fans were off on one.

One wrote: “_ announce Sanchez  and find a replacement of Valencia his cross is like a hell”

“S**t post!! SIGN SANCHEZ!!” one clearly tired supporter demanded.

“Can't ya grasp the simple fact that we need an out and out winger. Any *** established winger would do now. Sign someone!” another despaired.

Draxler back on radar!

11:00: Telegraph journalist Matt Law has provided some exciting updates for Arsenal fans.

Law claims that Arsene Wenger has revived his interest in Julian Draxler, who may be allowed to leave Paris Saint-Germain today.

With Manchester City still weighing-up a second approach for Sanchez, it’s believed Wenger has selected Draxler as his replacement.

The arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have left PSG needing to balance the books with Draxler the most likely to leave.

No bids for Sanchez

10:50: Arsenal have received no further bids for Alexis Sanchez.

Sky Sports claim nobody has bid for the Chilean superstar since Tuesday, and Arsenal will NOT accept a cash offer as they don't have enough time to replace him.

Perez to replace Gayle

10:50: Arsenal striker Lucas Perez is reportedly the most likely man to arrive at Newcastle to replace Fulham-bound Dwight Gayle.

Newcastle this week received a £15million bid from Fulham for last season’s top goalscorer Gayle, but the Magpies are reluctant to make a decision on Gayle’s future until they find a replacement for the 26-year-old.

And Sky Sports reporter Keith Dowie claims Arsenal outcast Perez is the most likely man to fill Gayle’s shoes.

Remy medical

10:45: Chelsea have given Loic Remy permission to leave the club, according to Gianluca di Marzio.

The Frenchman is heading to Spanish side Las Palmas to undergo a medical, and will sign a two-year deal with the club.

Burnley double deal

10:43: Burnley are closing on signing Huddersfield’s Nahki Wells - despite him being injured.

Express Sport understand a deal is sure to be done today and a medical shouldn’t prove a problem.

But Sean Dyche won’t be stopping there.

BBC reporter David Ornstein claims Aaron Lennon will leave Everton for Burnley today.

More on that when we get it.

Saints standing firm

10:40: Virgil Van Dijk's name keeps cropping up in transfer talk but Daily Star journalist Paul Brown has been told there’s "no way in a million years" that Southampton agree to sell him to Liverpool today.

Club position is even firmer on it in private than they have been in public and it would be a huge shock if he ends up at Anfield now.

Chelsea or Spurs?

10:35: Fernando Llorente should join Arsenal ahead of Chelsea and Tottenham, former Gunners striker Alan Smith joked this morning.

Smith was asked who he would join if he was Llorente and his response was typical of an ex-Arsenal man.

“That’s a nice one to open up with isn’t it,” Smith said on Sky Sports.

“Neither! I’d choose Arsenal. I suppose it all depends on the conversations they have with the respective managers.

“At both clubs you would imagine he would be there as a No 2 in case of injury to (Alvaro) Morata at Chelsea or Harry Kane at Spurs. I don’t know.

“You’re joining the champions aren’t you at Chelsea. Obviously Tottenham have their concerns at Wembley. Will it be that type of treading water type of season?

“But (Mauricio) Pochettino is a player that most players want to play for. I’m not saying Conte isn’t. It’s a close call. It will probably come down to money in the end.”

Ox closer to Anfield switch

10:25: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks to be edging ever closer to being a Liverpool player with another photo being leaked of him wearing the Reds kit.

The winger is on international duty with England this week, but underwent a medical at St. George’s Park on Wednesday evening.

Last night the England international was pictured in full Liverpool kit after undergoing a medical ahead of his move from Arsenal.

And today another photo doing the rounds on Twitter looks to be from a leaked photoshoot ahead of his unveiling.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is shown smiling holding the badge to the camera.

Heartbroken Sanchez…

10:20: Alexis Sanchez will be left ‘heartbroken’ if he doesn’t leave Arsenal today.

The Chilean is desperate to leave Arsenal before tonight’s 11pm deadline and Manchester City are working to complete a deal.

Both clubs are in negotiations but Arsenal aren’t prepared to sell unless they receive an offer of around £70million, having already rejected a £50m bid.

And the Daily Mail claim Sanchez will be upset if he is forced to stay in north London for another season should the Gunners refuse to sell him.

Crouch set for ‘Appy ‘Arry reunion?

10:15: Harry Redknapp is notoriously busy on Deadline Day, and he could be set for a really BIG signing, according to bookmakers Paddy Power.

They’ve reported bets on Stoke’s veteran forward, and Redknapp favourite, Peter Crouch joining Birmingham.

He’s in to 4/1 to join the Blues. Or 100/1 to head to Barcelona, if you fancy something mind-blowing.

Arsenal agree Sanchez fee - Alan Brazil

10:10: Arsenal look to have agreed a fee to sell Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City, according to Alan Brazil.

Brazil reckons the fact Manchester City have sent a delegation to Chile to thrash out a deal with Sanchez, means a fee must have been settled with Arsenal.

"If what we here is true that a delegation from Manchester City have gone out there, that tells me the clubs have agreed a price,” Brazil said on talkSPORT.

“It's just personal terms now.”

Former Arsenal and England goalkeeper David Seaman agreed that looked like the case.

Seaman is hopeful Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will bring some players in before the transfer deadline shuts at 11pm tonight.

"Yeah it does look like that,” he said in response to Brazil’s claim.

Spurs strike Llorente agreement

10:00: Antonio Conte will NOT be happy about this.

Tottenham are now favourites to sign Fernando Llorente after agreeing a deal with Swansea this morning. Negotiations between the two clubs began yesterday afternoon and were concluded this morning.

However, there’s still a glimmer of hope for Chelsea with Llorente yet to agree personal terms with Spurs.

First deal of day done for Matty Willock

10:00: Manchester United have confirmed they have sent Matty Willock on loan to FC Utrecht.

The 21-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut for the Reds but trained with Jose Mourinho's side towards the end of last season.

He even made it on the bench for the Premier League games against West Brom in April and Crystal Palace in May.

Willock joined United in 2012 and established himself as a regular starter for the Under-18s before making the step up to the Reserves.

He scored a dramatic last-minute winner at Anfield against Liverpool in last term's Premier League 2 fixture and played in the opening two games of this campaign for Ricky Sbragia's side.

A club statement read: “Everyone at the club wishes Matty a successful season in Holland.”

Chelsea livid with Liverpool

09:45: Chelsea are furious with Liverpool and Arsenal after missing out on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Arsenal winger looked set to join the Blues after both clubs agreed a £40million fee.

But the England international rejected a switch to north London at the last minute as he was holding out for a move to Liverpool.

The Reds then made their move and are now on the verge of completing his transfer after the 24-year-old underwent a medical at St George’s Park last night, where he has been with the England squad preparing for tomorrow’s World Cup qualifier in Malta.

And the Mirror claim Chelsea have been left angered by the actions of Liverpool and Arsenal, feeling like they have “been played” by the Anfield club to try and force Arsene Wenger’s side into selling to them.

Perisic deal alive?!

09:15: Manchester United could still sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic before tonight's deadline.

Perisic has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United all summer, with Jose Mourinho desperate to add another winter to his squad.

United’s pursuit of the Croatia international has cooled in recent weeks due to the early season form of Anthony Martial.

But Sky Sports reporter Alan Irwin admits a deal could still happen before tonight’s deadline, despite talk of Perisic signing a new deal at Inter Milan.

"Mourinho had his targets and has pretty much achieved them all,” Irwin told Sky Sports.

“He did also want a wide player in Ivan Perisic, and that may still go through.”

What the bookies think

09:10: Paddy Power are confident that several of the summer’s biggest transfer sagas will come to an end today – with wantaway players getting their wish.

They make it odds-on that Virgin Van Dijk finally gets his move to Liverpool (5/6); Alexis Sanchez is allowed to leave Arsenal for Man City (3/10); Ross Barkley completes his long-awaited departure from Everton, with Chelsea first in line (8/11); and that Liverpool complete a U-Turn and allow Philippe Coutinho to join Barcelona (1/2).

Other short priced moves at this early stage of Deadline Day include Fernando Llorente (1/6) and Danny Drinkwater (3/10) joining Chelsea, and a big overnight odds cut on Angel Di Maria joining Barcelona (10/11).

Sancho to Borussia Dortmund

09:05: The future of Manchester City rebel Jadon Sancho looks to have been resolved.

The highly-rated teenage prodigy has barely turned up for training in August, and has been ignoring City’s attempts to get in contact, according to the Telegraph.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Red Bull Leipzig were among the clubs monitoring Sancho’s situation.

But The Mirror claim Borussia Dortmund are close to agreeing a deadline day deal.

Redknapp arrives!

Mega Sanchez bantz

08:55: Sky Sports reporter Alan Irwin is most famous for having a sex toy shoved into his ear on deadline day.

But today Irwin showed he could play the joker by staging a mini transfer prank.

Irwin is stationed at Manchester United’s training ground today to bring Sky Sports News viewers the latest on deadline day.

He delivered an update shortly after 8am whereby he said incomings were unlikely.

With a steely straight face, he said: “One thing I should tell you is Sanchez has arrived in Manchester.”

Could the Arsenal star move to United or City on deadline day?It had viewers on tenter hooks… at least for a second.

Irwin then smiled: “But don’t get too excited, it’s the name of our security gig! We were shocked too but it’s all eventually been sorted.”

Sky Sports then cut back to the studio to a laughing Mike Wedderburn.

A City fan himself, Wedderburn retorted: “That is bants, reporter bants, that’s what that is!”

Batshuayi to Everton

08:50: Everton are said to be planning a Deadline Day move to sign Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea.

Ronald Koeman has had a busy summer recruiting at Goodison Park, having spent close to £130million.

And according to French outlet Foot Mercato he could turn his attentions to Batshuayi.

Everton snub West Ham bid

08:40: Everton have rejected West Ham’s offer for winger Kevin Mirallas.

But the Toffees aren’t interested in loaning Mirallas, 29, to a Premier League rival.

But it won’t be Arsenal, according to BBC reporter David Ornstein.

He tweeted: “The club Riyad Mahrez has left the Algeria squad to sign for is... not Arsenal. The Gunners are not in contention for the Leicester winger.”

Sanchez deal alive - Balague

08:15: Sky Sports football expert Guillem Balague has provided an update on the future of Alexis Sanchez.

And it appears Arsenal were the ones to suggest a swap deal involving Raheem Sterling and Manchester City believe the deal is still alive with Sanchez desperate to leave.

Balague tweeted: “Arsenal entertained conversations with City for Alexis. The Gunners did not ask for a fee at first but 2 weeks ago suggested a swap for Sterling.

“City, still hopeful of landing Alexis, now wondering if Arsenal ever wanted to sell. Player, as you all know, is desperate to leave.”

Di Maria wants out!

08:10: Paris St-Germain star Angel Di Maria has reportedly told the Ligue 1 giants he wants to be sold to Barcelona.

Barcelona have been pursuing Di Maria following Neymar’s world-record £200million move to PSG earlier this month.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon claims the Argentina international is determined to join Ernesto Valverde’s side before the transfer window shuts tonight.

The Argentina international is close friends with compatriot and Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi.

And he has supposedly informed PSG of his desire to ply his trade with Messi over at the Nou Camp, bringing his two-year stay in Paris to an end in the process.

It is said Di Maria conveyed his wishes via a phone call with manager Unai Emery.

He supposedly does not want to continue in France and is instead keen to return to La Liga, where he spent four successful years with Barcelona’s fierce rivals Real Madrid.

Barca await Liverpool’s Lemar meeting

08:05: Barcelona are awaiting the outcome of Liverpool’s meeting with Monaco today regarding Thomas Lemar to decide on how they approach their transfer dealings.

Liverpool are hoping to wrap up a deal for France midfielder Lemar today and Spanish publication Sport claim the two clubs are in negotiations over his transfer.

The Reds may need to fork out up to £92million to convince Monaco to sell though.

Should Liverpool sign Lemar, and with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain set to join from Arsenal, the Merseyside outfit could finally decide to cash in on Coutinho.

Barca have been chasing the Brazilian all summer but Liverpool have so far rejected their advances.

But Sport suggest Liverpool will allow Coutinho to leave if their meeting with Monaco over Lemar results in a positive outcome.

Swans to seal Sanches

07:25: Swansea are close to completing the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches on a season-long loan.

Express Sport understands that Swansea have made significant progress in talks with Sanches' representatives and that the deal could be concluded before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Sanches' signing would represent a significant coup for Swansea and their head coach Paul Clement, who worked with the Portugal midfielder in his role as Bayern assistant coach last season.

Swansea have been seeking a creative influence since the departure of Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton for a club-record £45million fee two weeks ago.

Spurs spoil the party

Divock Origi has reportedly been offered to Monaco in a loan deal and the Anfield outfit are prepared to pay £74.4m for Lemar’s services.

But Sky Sports reporter Solhekol admits Monaco would struggle to reject a bid of £92m if it were tabled.

Their decision will depend much on whether or not Jurgen Klopp can sign a replacement before the 11pm deadline.

Chelsea transfer news

05:25: Diego Costa's future at Chelsea could be resolved today.

The forward is on strike in Brazil and wants to join Atletico Madrid.

That is proving difficult because Atletico are trying to haggle on Chelsea's £49million asking price.

Chelsea are happy to sell but have ordered Costa back to training nevertheless.

Potential moves to AC Milan and Everton have been mooted.

But Costa only wants Atletico, who wouldn't be able to field him until 2018 due to a transfer ban.

Sanchez situation

05:10: Manchester City appear the most likely team to buy Alexis Sanchez this summer.

City boss Pep Guardiola is a massive fan of the Chile star and is ready to buy him this summer rather than wait for the end of the season, where he will be available on a free transfer.

Sanchez has refused a £300,000-a-week offer at Arsenal and City are willing to meet his £400,000-a-week demands.

Arsenal want Raheem Sterling as part of the deal but it is not known if the England international would be keen to head to the Emirates.

Costa owes £600,000

05:00: Diego Costa's £49 million move to Atletico Madrid hit a potential snag last night - because the striker has still not returned to London.

The Spain striker's lawyers were in Madrid yesterday along with Chelsea lawyers thrashing out a deal, and with the Spanish transfer window shutting an extra 24 hours later than the English, Atletico are still confident the transfer can be clinched.

But a potential hiccup lies in the fact that Costa owes Chelsea some £600,000 in fines for not returning for duty this summer - and the Stamford Bridge club want him to come back and pay up before a deal can go ahead.

Atletico Sporting Director Andrea Barta has rung Costa to try to persuade him to step on a plane today to smooth the way for the move. Atletico are set to pay an initial £39m for the stay away striker, with £10m in add ons. The two clubs were haggling over the details last night - as Chelsea prepared for what is certain to be a frantic final day of transfer dealing.

Gareth Bale latest

However, it would still be a huge coup for United to pull off a deadline day transfer.

He is valued at £93million and reports in Spain claim the Wales international isn't happy at the Bernabeu.

Watch this space (or likely don't!).

Liverpool and Barcelona in Lemar battle

04:30: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said a move for Lemar was "dead" earlier this summer and that Monaco wouldn't sell.

Yet both Liverpool and Barcelona believe they can get the player.

Both sides want him as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho.

Liverpool made a £64.5m bid for Lemar, who is their top target to replace Coutinho if the Brazilian joins Barcelona.

And Barca want Lemar in case Coutinho never turns up at the Nou Camp!

Monaco are holding on for as much money as possible but they are likely to sell if the bidding goes higher than £80m.
