Arsenal have agreed to sell Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool for £40million and fans will have hoped to see the money reinvested in new players.

But BBC Sport reporter Ornstein has revealed there is no plans to replace the 24-year-old before the transfer deadline.

And also claims Alexis Sanchez will only be allowed to leave if Arsenal receive a ’massive’ offer and a replacement.

He tweeted: “Arsenal have no plans to replace AOC & no money for major signings, but only way Sanchez leaves is if #AFC get massive money & replacement.”

The news is likely to infuriate Arsenal supporters, who witnessed their team lose back-to-back matches in the Premier League.

Arsenal are also likely to receive an increased offer from Manchester City for Sanchez after they had a £50m bid rejected on Tuesday.

Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero have been mentioned as potential makeweights in a deal for Sanchez but City are reluctant to let the attacking duo leave.
