West Ham transfer news: Deadline day move for Barcelona star Andre Gomes planned

The Barca midfielder has been strongly linked with a move away from the Nou Camp after struggling for game time last season.

Gomes managed just 17 starts in La Liga and isn’t set to be part of Ernesto Valverde’s plans this summer.

And according to ESPN, West Ham could make a move for the 24-year-old today with Barca willing to listen to offers.

The Hammers have only just joined the race for the Spaniard after failing in their pursuit of William Carvalho.

Slaven Bilic’s side looked likely to sign the Sporting Lisbon midfielder until they were priced out of a move.

And with West Ham rock bottom of the Premier League, Bilic is desperate to make a marquee signing with Gomes now at the top of his list.

The Hammers face competition from Juventus with the Serie A champions also interested.

However, West Ham are confident they can bring him to the Premier League with Bilic able to guarantee him more playing time than he would get in Italy.

Gomes’ current contract with Barca runs until 2021.
