Ross Barkley transfer news: Chelsea and Spurs move in doubt over medical concerns

ROSS BARKLEY’s hopes of leaving Everton are in doubt due to an ongoing groin injury.

Barkley has 12 months left on his contract and has told the club he will not be signing a new deal.

And Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs have all been linked with late moves for the England international.

But Barkley underwent a groin operation over the summer and then suffered a hamstring injury in August.

And Sky Sports say the severity of Barkley’s injury means he will not pass a medical examination.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has said any club interested in signing Barkley can not expect to do so cheaply.

He said: "If there is a club thinking we can wait until the last day and we put some money on the table and we get Ross Barkley, sorry, you do not get Ross Barkley."

Earlier today, Sky Sports claimed Spurs were Barkley's first choice.

"Chelsea are favourites for Ross Barkley but we understand he's desperate to work with Mauricio Pochettino," reporter Jamie Weir said.

“He’s spoken to his England team-mates and they’ve said lots of good things about the Tottenham manager.

“Expect some business at Spurs.

"Daniel Levy arrived here a few minutes ago and it's not too often we see the chairman here."
