Alexis Sanchez: Bookies say Arsenal star set for Man City but Man Utd have slim chance

BOOKIES are expecting Alexis Sanchez to complete a move from Arsenal to Manchester City.

Sanchez’s future at Arsenal remains uncertain with just hours of the transfer window remaining.

Manchester City appear to be in pole position to sign the Chile international, who wants a reunion with Pep Guardiola over at the Etihad Stadium.

But the bookies have slashed the odds on him joining City’s fierce rivals Manchester United, who have also been credited with an interest.

“Manchester City look to be finally closing in on a deal to swipe Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal’s clutches before tonight’s 11pm deadline,” BetStars Director of Trading Ian Marmion said.

“Arsene Wenger’s stringent efforts to keep his star-man seem to have fallen on deaf ears and the Chilean is now priced at 1/3 to complete a switch to the Etihad and reunite with former manager Pep Guardiola.

“However, there are still question marks about which side of Manchester the former Barca man could sign for as the odds were shortened from 10/1 to 8/1 for Manchester United to pull off a shock swoop.”

Arsenal are accelerating their efforts to land a replacement in the closing stages of the window.

PSG winger Julian Draxler is liked by Arsene Wenger dating back to the German’s time in the Bundesliga with Schalke.

Man City Transfer News: Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez is expected to join

However, the Gunners appear to be focusing their efforts on Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.

As recently as last week, Wenger said a deal for the France international was ‘dead.’

Yet that has not prevented Arsenal from making a huge £92million bid to sign him.

Should a move go through, then the France international will become the club’s record signing, usurping the £52m they paid Lyon for Alexandre Lacazette in July.
