Arsenal transfer news: Thomas Lemar is a 'January' transfer - Sky Sports pundit Jordan

ARSENAL’s move for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar is a January-type transfer, according to former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan.

Arsenal have reportedly agreed a £92million deal with Lemar this afternoon.

The French winger has been a long-term target of the Gunners, who had bids rejected for him earlier this summer.

Lemar has also been linked with moves to Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool, but Arsenal look to be in pole-position to sign him.

Arsenal are looking for a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who could move to Manchester City later today.

Jordan says the move for Lemar is desperation from Arsene Wenger’s side and believes it is not the type of transfer you would normally see at this time of year.

“I don’t think it smacks of well-oiled good order, do you?” Jordan said on Sky Sports.

“Because if you’re bidding £90million at four o’clock on transfer deadline day, I’m not so sure you’ve got all your ducks in line.

“So whether it smacks of a PR mechanism to appease the ever-resentful Arsenal fans.

“Or whether it’s good business, time will tell.

In a further deadline day twist, reports now claim the deals for Lemar and Sanchez are now off.
