Arsenal are finished in the transfer market for the summer

The Gunners have failed to bring in anyone since the signing of Alexandre Lacazette with Sead Kolasinac also arriving earlier in the summer.

And they had been looking to bring Thomas Lemar in with Alexis Sanchez set for Manchester City.

But the plug has been pulled on Lemar meaning Sanchez will now stay put.

And that marks the end of Arsenal’s activity in the transfer market - as far as in-comings are concerned.

Lemar was Arsenal’s top target to replace Sanchez with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also leaving today.

But Arsenal have now decided there is not enough time left to complete the deal, meaning they will not sanction Sanchez’s move to City.

Sanchez wanted to quit Arsenal for City and a fee of around £60m had been agreed but a replacement was needed before the deal was signed off.

And with Lemar falling through Sanchez will stay put.

Arsenal had agreed a £92m deal with Monaco for Lemar, before the player turned them down with claims that he wants to join Liverpool now circulating.

It has also been claimed Arsenal players Laurent Koscielny, Alexandre Lacazette and Olivier Giroud were bombarding Lemar calling on him to sign.

Thomas Lemar is staying put at Monaco after rejecting a move to Arsenal

“Lemar is with Oliver Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Alexandre Lacazette right now, with the France national team," Guillem Balague said.

"They will be telling him, banging on this door, getting him to join Arsenal, but he will say no. He does not want to go.

“What I am hearing is that Arsenal have finished with their business as it stands, which means Alexis stays and Lemar will not join."

Arsenal had also been trying to sign Jonny Evans from West Brom, but City are now free to sign the defender.

Evans has flown to San Marino with the Northern Ireland squad but could still complete the medical to secure his move before the deadline.
