Man Utd news: Cristiano Ronaldo deal dashed due to 'tense' Jose Mourinho relationship

MANCHESTER UNITED are not interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo due to his 'tense relationship' with Jose Mourinho.

That is according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

Ronaldo was linked with a return to Manchester United after growing angry at his tax case with Spanish authorities over the summer.

But Mourinho went on to describe the transfer as 'mission impossible' because of the financial figures involved.

He said in July: “We have never thought about it, because he's such an important player for his club, of great economic power, where we have not been able to find for whatever reason that could have made us think that Ronaldo could leave.

For some time, since the departure of David Moyes, the English [side] have not considered signing Ronaldo

“I'm not a defender of my club once you waste time on players who are mission impossible.”

However Balague says Ronaldo's relationship with Mourinho would also scupper any hopes of a transfer.

He wrote in Spanish newspaper AS: "Manchester United does not want Cristiano Ronaldo.

"For some time, since the departure of David Moyes, the English [side] have not considered signing the Portuguese.

Cristiano Ronaldo won't be joining Manchester United

"It is not just the tense relationship with Jose Mourinho: the Reds consider that the players for whom they must bet for sports and commercial reasons are others."

Ronaldo and Mourinho endured a fractious relationship during their time together at Real Madrid.

The pair reportedly 'almost came to blows’ during a dressing room dispute while Ronaldo once expressed his displease at the style of play under Mourinho.

Ronaldo and Mourinho share the same agent in Jorge Mendes.
