That is according to France Football, who claim Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City were all interested in signing Matuidi.

The Premier League trio reportedly all made advances for Matuidi, but the 30-year-old had his heart set on a move to Juventus.

The Serie A giants are said to have initially made contact with the France international in the summer of 2016.

And Juve got their man from Paris Saint-Germain last month in a deal worth up to £27.8million, with Matuidi penning a three-year contract at the Turin outfit.

Matuidi has made two substitute appearances for Juventus in the league so far this season, helping his new side to victories over Cagliari and Genoa.

But the midfielder will be hoping to break into Max Allegri’s first team soon in a bid to keep his place in the France squad for next year’s World Cup.

PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi said of Matuidi's exit: "I will always have great memories of Blaise's six seasons with our club.
