La Liga News: Real Madrid have Bale to Man Utd worry, Barcelona have Griezmann plan

Real Madrid are worried they may struggle to offload Gareth Bale to Manchester United come the end of the season.

The Wales international was heavily pursued by Jose Mourinho this summer yet the 54-year-old was unable to land his chief target.

Yet Spanish outlet Don Balon say they fear a repeat of the James Rodriguez situation this term.

Rodriguez's form and stock dropped last season and, as a result, they were only able to flog him to Bayern Munich on loan.

And Real supposedly fear that - if Bale struggles to shine this season - then United may cool their interest.

Barcelona plan to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid to keep hold of Lionel Messi.

That's according to Spanish website Diario Gol.

The France international has supposedly emerged as the Catalan giants' top target.

Messi was known to be frustrated at their failures to sign Philippe Coutinho and Angel Di Maria - something that has led to him to weigh up is Nou Camp future.

But the signing of Griezmann is thought to be enough to satisfy the Barcelona talisman.

Diego Simeone has signed a new contract at Atletico that will see him stay until 2020.

A club statement read: "Diego Pablo Simeone's contract extension is a reality. Our coach signed his new contract that links ties him to Atletico Madrid for two further seasons, until June 30, 2020.

"Hence, we confirm the news that the rojiblanco fans were greatly hoping for.

"There is total synergy between the club and the coach."
