Arsenal are lacking in options at right-back after loaning Carl Jenkinson to Birmingham and selling Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool.

Mathieu Debuchy is not in Arsene Wenger’s plans, meaning the Gunners could delve into the free transfer market to find cover for Hector Bellerin.

And according to Bookmakers BetStars, Bacary Sagna could be returning to north London after three years away.

The 34-year-old was released by Manchester City at the end of last season and is currently priced at 3/1 to head back to the Emirates.

“Arsenal are 3/1 contenders to snap up 34-year-old Bacary Sagna, who is currently a free agent after being released by Manchester City,” BetStars director Ian Marmion said.

“Former French International Sagna spent seven seasons with the Gunners and won the FA Cup in 2014 before moving north to join the Etihad side.”

However, the Gunners face stiff competition for his signature with Torino at the head of a long queue for the former Auxerre man.

“Serie A side Torino are favourites to sign Sagna and are priced at 5/2 with BetStars to recruit him to replace Davide Zappacosta, who made a deadline day switch to Chelsea,” Marmion added.

“Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in signing the experienced right-back.

“The Eagles are 7/2 to bring him to Selhurst Park with Premier League champions Chelsea poised at 5/1.

“A move to Old Trafford can be backed at 7/1 as Jose Mourinho seeks defensive reinforcements amid an injury outbreak.”

Sagna has made 267 Premier League appearances and won the FA Cup with Arsenal in 2014 and the League Cup with City in 2016.
