That is the verdict of Sky Sports pundit Stuart Pearce.

Oxlade-Chamberlain secured a £35million transfer to from Arsenal on deadline day.

The midfielder could make his debut for the Reds away to Manchester City on Saturday (12:30pm), and Jurgen Klopp’s men will be eager to build upon their impressive 4-0 victory over Arsenal prior to the international break.

And Pearce believes Oxlade-Chamberlain’s move suits him right down to the ground.

He told Sky Sports’ The Debate Show: “I think it’s a wonderful move for him.

“He needed a new challenge away from Arsenal and to put pressure on himself.

“Liverpool have assembled a squad and spent a lot of money in the window and it’s a very exciting club.

“The match is perfect. With his high energy and the way he plays, it is a perfect match for him.”

Pearce also believes Klopp played a key role in persuading the 24-year-old to make the switch to Anfield.

He added: “I think it should be your first meeting once you’ve agreed to be sold.

“The first contact is someone who is in charge of club such as Klopp.

“He’s got the opportunity to sell the football club and his vision to the player.

“He’s had a powerful impact on the Ox.”
