Arsenal news: Arsene Wenger has brainwashed fans over new signings - Stewart Robson

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has brainwashed fans and the media, according to former Gunner Stewart Robson.

Wenger confident of Sanchez commitment this season

Robson, who has been very public in his criticism of Wenger, says even he was brainwashed by promises from Arsenal.

Wenger signed a new two-year contract at the end of last season despite calls for him to leave after over 20 years at the club.

The Gunners finished outside the top four for the first time in the Frenchman’s reign.

Wenger and CEO Ivan Gazidis promised changes over the summer both on and off the field.

But Arsenal have started this season with two defeats out of three, including a demoralising 4-0 loss at Liverpool, after signing just two players in the summer transfer window in Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac.

Robson says there has not been enough changes for his former side to get back into the Champions League.

“I’ve often said Arsene Wenger has brainwashed the public, he’s brainwashed the media,” Robson said on ESPN FC.

“Well I was brainwashed by the hype that was coming out of Arsenal at the start of the season.

Arsenal news: Arsene Wenger shouldn't have signed a new contract, says Robson

“They (said they) were working harder on the defensive side of the game, they were working harder tactically on the training field.

“There was a great spirit amongst the players, they were going to buy more players in the transfer window.

“What a load of old rubbish I was thinking at the time.

“Arsenal out of that top four position and down below it.”
