Arsenal transfer news: Dick Law is one of Arsene Wenger's closest allies at Arsenal

Law is Arsenal’s main transfer chief as is one of boss Arsene Wenger’s closest allies at the Emirates.

But an Arsenal spokesman confirmed tonight that Law would officially be leaving at the end of the month.

The Telegraph say it has not yet been decided whether Law will be replaced with former Team Sky legal and commercial expert Huss Fahmy coming in during the summer to work on player contracts.

But Law’s departure leaves a void to be filled in Arsenal’s recruitment structure ahead of a potentially tough January transfer window.

The Telegraph add Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has taken up an office at their London Colney training ground which could indicate he will be more hands-on with the football operationa.

Gazidis lunches with Arsene Wenger at London Colney and will now have his own space there in addition to his base at the Emirates Stadium.

Law has worked closely with Wenger over the last decade, operating as the club’s South American scout and crucial to the deals for Gilberto Silva and Carlos Vela.

He has been been given a public title at Arsenal with his role carrying a sense of mystery outside the club.

At the end of last season Law outlined his day-to-day responsibilities at the club, saying: "If we come down to the manager, his responsibility is operating every area in football.

"The logistics report to him, first-team coaches, strength and conditioning, medical team and psychology [departments] all report to the manager.

"The area that I manage is called football operations. My job is to help the CEO and manager, in conjunction with the contract team, with squad planning, contract negotiations, negotiations with agents, player transfers, either in or out of the club, and coordination with the Arsenal academy.

"I work very closely with our chief financial officer, our general counsel (the lawyer for the club) and our club secretary in the contract team. Our biggest challenge is to make sure that all the contracts are done right and we follow all the rules set by the FA and FIFA."
