Newcastle manager Benitez will miss the clash at the Liberty Stadium because of a hernia.
The Spaniard had hoped to travel with the squad but that has proved impossible.
Benitez as endured a mixed start to life back in the Premier League with Newcastle and is seeking three points at Swansea today.
The clash kicks off at 4pm with the Magpies looking for a second win on the bounce after their 3-0 triumph over West Ham before the international break.

Benitez has stayed at home after undergoing surgery on a hernia.
He went under the knife to remove an infection from a hernia wound.
Newcastle have confirmed he has not travelled with the squad.
Who will manage Newcastle against Swansea?
Benitez’s assistant Paco Moreno will be in charge of Newcastle against Swansea today.
Benitez will no doubt be in contact with Moreno during the day’s events.
Spaniard Moreno arrived at the club originally as Newcastle’s new strength and fitness coach when Benitez was appointed in March 2016.

There were rumours circulating that Newcastle were considering flying Benitez down in a helicopter to be at the match in south Wales.
The drive from Newcastle to Swansea takes just under six hours, meaning flying was an obvious solution.
But the boss is not fit to fly and so will remain in the north east.
